I have set up a slide master with a rounded rectangle framing the title and the main text area, based on the standard autoshape. The frame around the main text has very large curves at the corners, in scale with the stretched autoshape. I want to reduce the radius of these curves so that they match those on the title block.

Have created a 7 page PP presentation with a WAV file imbedded and it starts out just fine. Even tho it has been set to 'continue looping' as soon as page 2 opens the music file starts playing from the beginning instead of continuous play. Any suggestions on a fix? Other than this quirk it works fine. (I believe its PP 2000 but dont know how to tell for sure)

Rather than shadowing, how can I create a font with an outline (ie, white font with a black outline border on each character), or is this effect just a special font?

Does anyone know of a way to boost the signal from a laptop to a data projector? For a theatrical show I am producing at my retirement community because of constraints on the stage the lap top running the PP presentation (mostly video clips) must be about 30 feet from the data projector. Both laptop and data projector are brand new. The data projector is not equipped for wireless but the laptop is. Can I buy a signal booster to enhance the signal. I have been told you must keep the distance less than 15' or the signal will degrade. When I use the supplied component video connector the signal is fine..but the cord is about four feet long only. I could also connect via S Video. If wireless will work we could exchange the data projector for one wireless capable...but would prefer a different solution if it would work.

Chart animation

If I have two or more charts in a slide can I animate the individual charts
so that they will pop-out if you put the cursor on it?

What do you mean by putting a cursor on it? You can use custom animation to
do so. Alternately, if you are using PowerPoint 2002/XP and above, you can
use triggers animation, so that when you click on perhaps an action button,
the chart will appear, then click on the action button again to make it
disappear.

After adding the two charts, add an entrance and an exit effect on a chart.
(Have the start as "On click".)
Now, add an action button or autoshape.
Select both the entrance and exit effect, right click and select timing.
Click Triggers.
Select Start effect on click of. Select the action button/autoshape.
Click OK.
Repeat the above steps on the second chart. Is that what you want?

Chart Animation

Postby mark.wallace » Wed, 23 Aug 2006 00:16:00 GMT

i have a quetion.

I have a chart, data entered via Powerpoint, which shows income v
expenses on a graph for three years.

i can animate the graph so that it shows
Stpe 1 Axis
Step 2 Income
Stpe 3 Income and Expesnes

i would like to show Expenses first, but on third stop show Income,
Expenses in that order.

My reorder button does not seem to work for chart animation. Anyone got
any ideas?

You can't reorder them. One way (a little tedious though) would be to ungroup
the chart (Right click on the chart, click Grouping > Ungroup. Click Yes when
a prompted, then ungroup again). Then group up individual data, and animate
them individually.

You don't mention which Powerpoint version you're running, but in all
versions it's possible to select the chart object and ungroup it.
Powerpoint will warn you that it's an external object, and say OK.

At that point the chart elements behave like any other drawing objects.

First, you need to ungroup the chart elements so that the colums you would
like to animate are separate.

Then, select each colum and apply the appropriate animation setting.

This is a quick and dirty approach, and you will lose the ability to link
the chart data to external files, but hopefully it'll buy you some time to
find a more elegant approach.

Cheers,
Geoff

Paltoft,
Select the chart, click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Then, click Add Effect > Entrance > Wipe.
Now, double click on the added wipe effect to bring up the dialog box.
Click on Chart Animation tab.
Under Group Chart, click on the dropdown list. Select the option of your
preference (depending on how you want it to be animated).
Click Ok.
Also, you can expand the list and change the Start of each effect. (e.g.
from On click to With Previous).

Just to add to Shawn's very good advice you probably want to NOT tick animate
grid & legend

SpudMachine's method can be used to give some interesting effects but if
your chart is other than very basic ungrouping it will give you a lot of
shapes to deal with. Unless you have very specific needs and know what you're
doing I wouldn't go there.

Another thing to add on - the ungrouping method is irreversible. Make sure
you create a duplicate first before ungrouping, or else you will have to
re-create the chart if you want to modify any data in it.

Or Ctrl+Drag the graph to make a copy of it then drag the copy off the slide or
shrink it down and send it to the back behind the other stuff on the slide.

That way you only have to backtrack a few steps if something goes wrong.

Or when the boss fiddles the data.

Again.

For the 18th time.

Chart Animation

Postby QmFyYmll » Wed, 10 Dec 2008 12:05:00 GMT

I have created a "Line Column on 2 Axes" chart and have applied animation to
it selecting "By Series" in the chart options. When the animation plays, the
columns are displayed first and then the line.

Is there any way to influence the sequence so that the line is animated
first and then the columns? The Re-Order option is greyed out and not
available.

Barbie

You'd have to reorder the data on the datasheet.

Because of this, I often find that I need to ungroup the chart, regroup the
lines / columns, and animate those as appropriate.
