Delete Line on Template

Postby S2FyZW4 » Sat, 25 Aug 2007 00:02:08 GMT

I'm using a template that has a decorative line across the top to separate
the title and the body of the slide. I want to insert something in that
slide and have it take up the entire page, but the line is in the way. Is
there a way of deleting that line ONLY from that slide?

I'm using PowerPoint 2003

Thank you, Karen

See if this works. Click on the specific slide that you do not want the line.
Click Format > Background. Put a checkmark on "Omit background graphics from
master". Click Apply. If the template is simply a background except for the
line (which is an autoshape), this should work.

If not, undo the process, click View > Master > Slide Master.
Select the master, press Ctrl-D to make a duplicate.
Delete the line on the duplicated slide master.
Delete the duplicated Title master (if available).
Close Master View.
Click on the slide that you do not want the line.
Click Format > Slide Design.
Under "Used in this presentation", hover over the newly created template,
click on the dropdown and select "Apply to selected slide".

Thank you for your help Shawn - I duplicated the slide and attempted to
delete the line and I couldn't. I can select any object on that slide but
the line.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again, Karen

If that's the case, it means that the line is part of the background. There's
no way you can edit it on PowerPoint and you will probably need a graphic
editing software to remove the line. Does the template contain a title
master? If so, you can probably consider using it if it doesn't contain any
lines.

Thanks Shawn - I like your idea about the graphics editing program. I can
change it in Photoshop. Have a great day and thanks again.

2.Adding Lines and Deleting using VBA in powerpoint

Hi all,

Im a VBA newbie but cannot get it to do something really simple. I
want to add a line to my powerpoint, which i have done using a couple
of methods: Shapes.Addline and DrawLine but i cannot get these to
delete easily once i have added them.

The DrawLine works but it then doesnt allow the lines to stay on the
screen when a function is called, and doesnt seem to have the same
functionality as the .Addline, ie there are no dashes allowed.

I want a line to be drawn on a button press, and then it to be redrawn
on the next button press essentially, with no trace of the previous
line.

Can anyone help please!?
