With my PowerPoint 2000 I cannot "insert" movies into a presentation and therefore make the presentation portable from computer to computer (this is a real bummer since a self-running slide show of mine is supposed to be put on a dozen machines by someone else and I don't know whether they will put it on a C or D drive - and they don't know either). Anyway, does PP2002 actually let folks embed (without links) MPG files?

I just got upgraded from Win98 to Win2000, and in the process the technicians apparently had to reinstall Office 2000 Professional. When they did, I found that the PowerPoint software no longer appears to have the org chart functionality. I already went through the reinstall process, making sure that I installed everything available, but when I go into powerpoint and double click a slide with a new org chart, I still get the message that the org chart functionality is not installed. Any thoughts or suggestions? I guess I can build my own org charts using Autoshapes, but I'd rather use the org chart functionality that should be available... Thx, BPM

Embedded .wav files only play once in PowerPoint 2007

I have a .wav sound file I have inserted into my draft PPT using the
following method:

Insert
Sound
Sound from Clip Organizer

The actual .wav sound file I chose is called "Deck the Halls 2" and it is
2707 KB. After the file is inserted, even after setting the custom
animation, the file will only play ONCE. Each time after that, it refuses to
play. I am not a novice using PowerPoint so this leaves me extremely
frustrated that this is happening. I know the process of changing the max
sound file size, looping until stopped, playing it automatically, hiding it
during show, etc., but for some reason and although this file is clearly
EMBEDDED into the PPT, it will only play the ONE time and never again unless
I delete it and re-insert it all over again (at which time it will still only
play that ONE time).

I have even copied the sound file into the same folder my presentation is in
just out of curiosity. It still refuses to play. Something is clearly
wrong. Can some one please help me rectify this problem? All help is
appreciated.

after you insert the wav go to custom animation. in the frame on the right,
where it has modify effect: right click the file and choose effect options.
from here you can tell it to play on all slides, or just choose the ones you
want.

Hi, dee.

Thanks for your response. However, custom animation is not the problem I am
having here. I have already done this 20 times. What I am saying is that it
will play one time, then the file disappears. The sound icon may be there,
but the sound won't play. You can't click nor right-click the sound icon to
make edits to it as it is no longer there. It only plays once after
insertion and that is it. This is a .wav file which is embedded and not
linked. This should not be happening.

I have been creating PPTs and PPSs for many years now. I can't ever recall
this particular issue happening unless the file was linked and the file size
had not been adjusted accordingly, or the custom animation had not been set
to run across all slides or a set number of slides. Neither of which are the
case here. This PPT has not left the original PC either.

There seems to be a problem with the file itself (not DRM) If you have a
sound editor program open the file and resave, see if that helps. (If you
don't don't me an email)

do you happen to have SmartBoard software installed on this computer? I
know that caused my problem before. I had to close out the SmartBoard
program, then it would work.

hanx, John. That seemd to work. I used Nero Wave Editor 4 to open and
resave the file. I compressed it a little more while I was at it. I guess
I'm going to have to use this method from here on out as there seems to be a
problem with all the sound files (.wav and .midi) that are inserted from
Microsoft's sound gallery because they are all doing this. Weird!

Thanx, again. (P.S., were you telling me NOT to e-mail you? lol)

1.Embedded .wav sounds play incorrectly in Office 2007 Slideshow Mod

I recently upgraded from PP2003 and XP to PP2007 and Vista.

I now find that presentations with embedded .wav sound files will play in
the editing mode in powerpoint 2007, but that in slideshow mode they are
truncated in a weird way.

Specifically, the system seems to cut off the last 1 second of the sound
file, and if it is shorter than 1 second it doesn't play at all.

This problem occurs both for old 2003 presentations open in 2007 and for new
presentations where the sounds are embedded directly in pp 2007.

Curiously, if I save the file in PP2003 mode, and run it on an XP machine
with PP2003, it runs fine.

I am not sure it this is a vista issue or a Office 2007 issue, but it is
definitely frustrating.

5.Trouble Embedding a .wav file to play across slides

Hello all,

I've been having a bit of a problem embedding a .wav file to play across
slides.

Here's what I've tried:

1. I've set the max sound file size to 50,000 KB
2. Inserted the .wav sound file (size 2,771 KB)

It plays just fine here and PowerPoint Options show that it is an embedded
sound file [contained in presentation].

3. Next, I checked the option "Hide Sound Icon During Slide Show" and set to
play the sound "Across Slides"

The sound file played the first time during the presentation; however when I
saved, closed, and reopened the presentation the sound file would not play in
presentation mode or when clicking the sound icon. All the settings remained
the same. PowerPoint still can "see" the sound file as being contained in the
presentation. It just won't play.

If you'd like to try this yourself on your own computer, the sound file I'm
using is one from the MS Clip Organizer called "Fiber Optics"

Any ideas as to why or how this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
