  • 1. Newbie Question - content source
Hi! I created my content sources for exchange public folder. Question: is the content source for indexing (search) purposes only, e.g., the search box in the top right corner is the ultimate use? Since the data is synchrnozied (cached), can I display it via a webpart? If I could show the public calendar or the list of files that I am connecting to, that would be great. Please correct if I am totally off. Thank you! -Bahman
  • 2. Production & Test Environments
Hi all, I have SPS 2K3 installed on one server and SQL DBs on another server. Everything is going on well and now I want to keep it as production environment and create my test from that. Plan is : 1.Create a virtual machine from the Physical server on which SPS 2K3 is installed. 2.Create all the databases with different names suffixed with TEST on the same server. 3.Change the name of the portal to a different name. 4.Point my test portal to the TEST databases from Central Administration. Does anybody see any problems with this? Your comments/advise is appreciated. Thank you very much, dhv919401

Does anybody know of a utility which would be able to help me locate duplicate files in multiple document libraries throughout a portal site. Duplicates would be considered a document with the same filename in seperate folders in the same library, or even different libraries on the same portal.

Where is the Calendar list on a Publishing Portal?

Postby Sm9obiBTY290dA » Sun, 14 Oct 2007 02:57:00 GMT

I need to put a calendar list on a publishing portal. It doesn't seem to be
available on Publishing Portals. I also noticed that other standard list
types (tasks, etc...) are missing also.

How can I get these list types to appear? Is there a feature somewhere that
I can activate?

1.Calendar not available in Publishing Portal?

I am creating a Web Content Management System... So I am using the Publishing
Portal for the Web App.... When I click on Create I do have have an option
for Calendar... I wantto be able to add and incorporate a calendar into this,
but the option is not there. When I hit create, I can create a:

 Libraries (Document Library, Picture Library)
 Tracking (Tasks)
Custom Lists (Custom List, Import Spreadsheet)
Web Pages (Basic Page, Web Part Page, Sites and Workspaces, Publishing Page)

How can I add a calendar? Any ideas?

3.Event and Calendar Filtering... I am stuck

I have read a good amount of posts on date filtering but none of them work with reoccurences. I don't think i am asking for anything special but here goes.

1. I would like to create a event calendar that secretaries can fill in upcoming single instance events and reoccuring events. Whenever they want, even months in advance-That part is easy-

2. This is the show stopper. On the front page, i want a small web part that shows what is happening this week. Then i can make a web connection to a details page..and it has to show all the reoccuring events..

for example:
Events this week
   -Sunday
   +monday
7/6/2003 8:00am Weekly board meeting (reoccurence)
         7/6/2003 11:00am Monthly Reviews (reoccurence)
7/6/2003 6:00pm BBQ after work (noreoccurence)
   -Tuesday
   -Wednesday
   -ETC

The thing is.. filtering by startdate or calculated date on creation and such do nothing to get me where i want to be. Even the datepart stuff doesnt take into account reoccurences over a month. It always finds just the first date i made. If i make a view that details all the reoccurences then the dates are completely unfilterable. Meaning i can't just say date=[today] because some how date does not really exist in that view and it is some kind of crosstable calculated field.

Is there any solution?

4.Can not display list, but I am able to search the list

Hi,

I am using SharePoint service 2003 on Small Business Server 2003. I created
a list call Fragrance Library, it was working fine for many week now. This
morning I was not able to display the list, but I was able to search the list
and gave me the result. Any idea to have list back on display? Thanks.

5.Publishing a site list to the portal?

I've got a department web site and I've created an FAQ in the site. What I'd
like to be able to do is push the entire FAQ up to the portal, but I can't
figure out how to do that. I've tried exporting the web part but when I
import it into the portal, it says the list doesn't exist.

Can anyone suggest how I can do this? If it isn't possible to do it this
way, I have got a fall-back position of taking the FAQ out of the site &
just having it at the portal level, but I'd like to have it in both places
but with only one master list if that is possible.
