We are experimenting with using the RSS Reader web part to display news feeds within a MOSS 2007 site. The web part caches the feed for an extended period of time often hours. Refreshing the page never works, occasionally loggin out and back in again works, but isn't a workable solution. We've tried changing the XML caching, but it seems to have no effect. The problem occurs both with custom feeds and with feeds from the web such as CNN.com. Anybody know of a solution?

Getting Suggested Topic from Topic Assistant

Postby B S » Sun, 27 Feb 2005 05:46:37 GMT

Hi,

I am trying to retrieve suggested topic(s) for a given document
programmatically. They are actually shown in item detail of a search
result. Thus there must be a way to do this. I have looked through SPS OM
but I can't find anything.

Appreciate all the help.

1.Key words and Topic Assistant - Help!

I am trying to configure keywords and/or topic assistant on our portal
server. I have read all the provided help documentation (rather
unclear), searched this sharepoint public site and am still having no
luck whatsoever.
I have created areas, I have created keywords, I have added keyword
best bets, I have added numerous documents to various sites, subsites,
areas etc, I have enabled Search on all sites but whenever I attempt
to train the Topic Assistant I get the following error message: "There
were not enough keywords in the sample documents to train the Topic
Assistant. Try again when more sample documents are available." The
gatherer log gives me "The address could not be found" error messages
and nothing I do seems to work. Anybody - help please!!
Thanks
Trish

2.How does Topic Assistant work?

I get the following message when I train topic assistant
with lowest precision:

There were not enough keywords in the sample documents to
train the Topic Assistant. Try again when more sample
documents are available.

Which keywords does the message refer to?
Does the Topic Assistant use filenames to get train or
does it use words in a document to get trained?

e.g. if I have an area called SPS and have 11 documents
named SPS_1, SPS_2,...,SPS_10, Administraor's Guide for
SPS etc. and another area called STS with 11 documents
named STS_1, STS_2,...,STS_10, Administraor's Guide for
STS etc. then will the Topic Assistant know that SPS_11
belongs to SPS area and STS_11 belongs to STS area and
Programmer's Guide belongs to both SPS and STS?
or
will it look inside the contents of each of the documents
to get trained?

4.more useful topic assistant

Hi all

the webpart for use the topic assistant suggest you which documents to put in an area, but you can see them only when you go in that area. Is there a way to have the suggestion on the right area for a document when you have just uploaded the document, and without go in that area ('cause you don't know the right area)
Anybody knows if is there however a way to use the topic assistant in a more useful way

Thank you very much
Cristiano

5.Enable Topic Assistant on Populated Site

I have been asked to help manage a sharepoint intranet, the system has
been in place for sometime now maybe a year or so and has quite a few
documents. I have found a few configurations that should have been made
initially, such as topic assistant. I have went thru all the areas and
turned it on, and then enabled/train now. It says The Topic Assistant
requires sample documents from at least two categories. Try again when
sample documents for more categories are available.

Do I need to go thru a bunch of documents and choose "add to area" for
this to work, or maybe a full index will help clear this stuff up?
