We have an ASP.NET application/page that uses the SharePoint API to make manipulations to a list on a particular SharePoint site. This page performs as expected when hit by a Portal Server/WSS admin; however, when hit by anyone else it fails. We want to use Cold Fusion Scheduler (or a like product) to schedule an HTTP request to this page twice per week to make the needed manipulations; however, the page fails when called by the Cold Fusion Scheduler. We have enabled full assembly trust in SharePoint, enabled impersonation in the application's web.config file and specified an admin userid/password. What additional steps do we need to take to get the security setup properly?
  • 2. Permission problems with SPLists enumeration
I have a small .NET application that shall simulate a RSS feed on my portal site. Most of the site is available to all users, but there are parts that are restricted. I use code like the following: portalArea = AreaManager.GetArea(portalContext, areGUID); SPListCollection areaLists = portalArea.Web.Lists; int iCount = areaLists.Count ; // this line kills the job When I call this code as the portal administrator, everything runs fine. But when a restricted user tries to get the count property, the whole application terminates and the user get a logon prompt (which, sure enough, fails). Same thing happens if I try to enumerate the lists like that foreach (SPList list in areaLists) { do something } In each case, the call stack traces the error back to a function "GetListsAsSafeArray" inside the SharePoint.Portal library. Is there a possibility to bypass this annoying error and read only the lists that the current user has access to ? Or is there a way to find out the lists a specific user (in this case, the impersonated user of the web application) has access to and enumerate these ? Any help is very welcome! How 2 remove "Topics" on left menu of Home Page & Show "Locations"

Postby VmlzaGFs » Wed, 14 Sep 2005 14:20:01 GMT

I have hidden the Topics area, so the "Topics" menu on Home Page is now
useless.

How can I remove this "Topics" menu and instead replace it with "Locations"
menu, which comes on all other pages?

3.Home, Topics, New, sites menu in SPS 2003

Hi,

I'm adding areas for different project to SPS 2003 and I would like to hide
the home, Topics, News, sites from horizontal navigation bar in SPS 2003 from
users.
I know I can go to change settings for each of these areas except home and
go to display tab and check the Exclude from portal site navigation and it
will not show on navigation bar. I wnated to know if there is another way to
do it beside opening the page in front page and removing the links.

Thanks,

4.Removing the extra page when click to a link on the home page

Hi,
Since upgrading to MOSS each of our links on the home page takes us to
another page
and we have to click to the link on that page or "New Item" box to open the
link finally.
It almost look like a summary page before we can go to actual link.
It used to be just one click to the link to go to that actual link. Now it
takes 2 clicks.

Is this a new feature we can remove so the links on a page actually takes
you to the link right away?

Thanks in advance...

5.Display order when page is shown on home page

How can I control the display order of documents, lists or links when I have
that page displayed on the center portion of the home page. I have a list of
links to subwebs that I want to display in alphabetical order, but it
displays in the order the links are added to the page. Is there a setting
that controls this through the normal sharepoint UI or do I need frontpage
to access this control?
