  • 1. Can I add measures for a partition using DSO?
Hi: I have a cube with multiple partitions. Since each partition has a different fact table, I have to add the same measures for each partition (is this right?). I'm trying to add a new measure like this: DSO.PartitionMeasure measure = (DSO.PartitionMeasure) part.Measures.AddNew ("sales", DSO.SubClassTypes.sbclsRegular); I got error message: "Additional information: Object variable or With block variable not set". Anyone knows what it means? Thanks
  • 2. 64000 Member problem
Hi all I have a problem that has got me completely stumped I have a cube that has 1 dimension in it for Mail Address info Level FromDomain Level FromUser we had a problem a while ago where the FromDomain Member Count exceeded 64000 so we implemented Automatic Grouping for the FromDomain Level and set Visible to False So I have the following levels: DomainGrouping (auto grouping) FromDomain (unique keys, unique names) FromUser (unique keys) This has worked fine until now where the FromUser Level now has more that 64000 members for a single Domain I have attempted to add another Auto Grouping Level for the FromUser, but have been unsuccessful as every time I set the level to Automatic Grouping the editor automatically changes the unique keys and unique names values to False. But All levels after an auto grouping level must have unique keys. I've attempted to implement it with my own grouping in the following way: DomainGrouping with key as Left(FromDomain, 1) as a hidden level FromDomain UserGrouping with key as FromDomain + ' - ' + Left(FromUser, 1) as a hidden level FromUser with key as complete email address and name as just the first part of the address (user) but now the FromUser name must be unique as it is the first visible level after a hidden level must also have unique names (not just unique keys) This structure only works if my UserGrouping Level is visible Can anyone please help me? • 4. Extra Super Urgent: MS AS 2k + Crystal Analysis 9 + Ragged hierarchies + ParallelPeriod
921540561 Hello, All! I need urgent help. My project is almost successfully finished. But one bug is still undecided. Problem description: Used technology: MS AS 2k + SP2 as OLAP server, Crystal Analysis 9 as client. Cube: Contains several ragged hierarchies dimension and several measures based on the ParallelPeriod function. When I browse this cube with excel or MDX sample aplication all works fine. But if I browse this cube with Crystal Analysis 9 I see only empty cells. When I use Data Browser from MS AS Analysis Manager I see in these cells #Error. As I understood the problem is MDX Compatibility level. How can I influence on this parameter (WHERE? on the server or on the client side and HOW?). Maybe somebody already solve this problem. Thanks in advance. - -- With best regards, Andrey Savchenko.

Can't connect Database (Analysis Manager)

Postby markus.ewald » Sat, 19 Mar 2005 01:17:13 GMT

Hello
I have installed SQL Server 2000 (Personal Edition) and Analysis
Services on a Windows XP SP 2 Machine. Also I installed SP 3.
Installed MDAC 2.8SP1

Now my Problem:
SQL Server runs without Problems. But when I try to connect an
Analysis Server always an error occurs (double click on Analysis
Manager -> double click on the registered Server --> then the error
occurs).

Error Message:
"Class doesn't support automation or the expected device is not
supported".
The error message may be not 100 per cent correct, because I use
Analysis Services in German.

Is there anybody who has a solution for me ? :-)
Thanks in advance for your help.

3.Analysis Manager can't see servers

We added Analysis Services to an existing SQL Server last night. When I
start Analysis Manager I see that it has the Console->Analysis Servers
folders, but the Analysis Server folder is empty. Right clicking on
Analysis Servers brings up a menu that contains no AS menu items. The only
reference to AS is About Analysis Services, which shows it as version
8.0.760. But since there are no AS menu items and it doesn't show any
servers (even though SQL Server Service Manager definitely shows AS is
running), it looks to me like Analysis Manager isn't loading correctly.

Can anyone give me a pointer on what is wrong and how I can correct it?

Thanks!

4.Can't browse cube in Analysis Manager

I've recently installed SQL Server 2000 Developer and Microsoft Analysis Services
on my Win XP Home computer. When I use Analysis Manager to browse any cube in
the FoodMart example database, I get the message: "Unable to browse the cube .... Unspecified error."

I also get the following intermittent problems.
- Analysis Manager hangs (e.g.when I've tried to delete a database or cube)
- when I open Analysis Manager and try to connect to the analysis server, I get the
following message: "Unable to connect to the registry on the server or you are not a
member of the OLAP Administrators group on the server."

I've tried re-installing Microsoft Analysis Services, but the problems remain.

Can anyone suggest a cause or solution please?

5.Analysis Manager can't register server

Hi Heather,

This is probably because msmdsgn80.dll (AS manager add-in) is not
registered.

When you for example take a working AS manager and unregister this dll,
like:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin>regsvr32 -u msmdsgn80.dll

You will see that the register option is gone, you can register it again by:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin>regsvr32 msmdsgn80.dll

If this still fails check if you got version 8.00760 (sp3) of this dll,
maybe was the file overwritten by something. Unregister it and register it
again with above steps.

Bas
