  • 1. Missing Data after Cube Processing
Hi all, Once I process my cubes, the data is missing. I check the Sql Server tables to make sure all of the data is there and go to reprocess. Same result. The data is gone. I have absolutely no clue as to what is happening. This is very urgent. Any suggestions??
  • 2. Limiting or "Filtering" A Cube By Date in Analysis Services???
Limiting or "Filtering" A Cube By Date in Analysis Services Good Morning Fellow MSAS-niks! Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to shine on this issue. I know of only two ways to set up an MSAS Cube and limit or filter it by date: 1. Create a view in SQL Server, with a where clause limiting date, and then build a Cube on the view. This seems to create performance problems re build. I have had little success with this technique or, 2. Within an MSAS Cube, create a date partition with a where clause limiting data and then also within Cube edit, go to the date dimension and then "source table" within properties and place that same where clause expression. That seems to work. Am I missing something? Are there better techniques? Thanks so much. Pete Pete Hohenhaus Kirkland, WA, East Side Seattle
  • 3. Merging date dimensions
Hi, I have 2 cubes which I will merge to 1 virtual cube. The first one is the forecasted sales (with a date ofcourse) and the second is the booked sales (with a date). In the new virtual cube I would like to merge the two date dimensions. Or in other words I just want 1 date dimension in the new virual cube. Please can you tell me how? Thanks a lot
  • 4. Analysis Manager and Roles
Hello, We have a standard OLAP database on Analysis Services 2000 US with SP3a. Repository is MSAccess (it has never been changed). About 36 roles have been defined to manage security. For some reasons, it's nearly impossible to remove some roles : sometimes it doesn't work, sometime we have to do it twice from Analyis Manager before it takes it into account. Do you have any ideas on where the problem comes from ? - Should we migrate to a SQL Server repository (note we've already try compacting the msmdrep.dmb database to improve data access performance) ? - Do we have to many roles ? - What else ? Thanks for your help Michel CARADEC
  • 5. adding the values in the cells column and row wise
Hi I want to add the values of the cells column wise and row wise and willing to show the result at the bottom of every column and the rightmost side of every row of the cube via mdx query. Is it possible in any way. Regards Harris

Reregistering Performace Counters for OLAP services

Postby amh1Z2VyeQ » Sun, 05 Feb 2006 03:03:40 GMT

Whenever running perfmon on my SQL 2005 server, I receive the following error
in the event log...

Windows cannot load extensible counter DLL MSSQLServerOLAPService, the first
DWORD in data section is the Windows error code.

Data:
0000: b1 36 00 00 00 00 00 00 6......

I believe that something is amiss with my performance counters, but cannot
find a way to re-register them. Any ideas?

If you can allow it, the first suggestion is to re-install Analysis
Services.
Or at least try installing another named instance and see if you can access
perfmon counters.

4.Analysis Services Database & OLAP Service Problems

We had a disk crash on our server a few days ago, which was where the
Analysis Services database files were stored - the disk was replaced
and the contents restored from the drive backup. I'm now having
trouble getting back online with my OLAP database.

When I get into Analysis Manager, I am not able to do anything with
the OLAP database - I can see the database okay, but Analysis Manager
freezes everytime I click on the database name, overwrite the database
with a restore of an archive, or delete the database all together.

I have tried manually stopping & starting the OLAP service (through
the Control Panel / Services window) - the service stops okay, but
gets stuck in the "Starting" status when I try and start it. The
service did start okay after a reboot last night, but I have the same
problems mentioned above whenever I try to do anything with the
database. And the service once again gets stuck in the "Starting"
status when I try to manually stop/start it.

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

Pete

5.reregister sqlDmo.dll

When I try to script my database, I get the following error:
schema_name is not recognized function name

I found that I have to reregister sqlDmo.dll

How can I do that?

Thank you,
Simon
