  • 1. Problem with MSSQL Service Manager Startup
I have installed the latest version, and the Service Manager starts with Windows XP, but it will not remember the server. I can input the server, e.g. mycomputer\vsdotnet and it will find the SQL Server service and start it just fine, it even shows the tick in the Autostart when OS starts box, but when I restart it has forgotten the server again. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave
  • 2. Testing of Reporting Services
We only have a production SQL Server 2000 but would like to try Reporting Services. We find that the download version is for 120 days evalation. 1) We would like to know is there any harm to the Production Databases ? 2) What should we do when the RS is expired ? 3) Besides installing Framework 1.1 on the Server, is there any other points we are missing ? 4) As we find the VS 2003 quite expensive, would it be possible for us to use VS 2005 Express for testing ? Thanks
  • 3. Registry values for SQL2000
Hi, We are just starting to use MOM with the SQL Server Management Packs. One of the reports produced is the Service Pack Report. This seemed to show some strange values for builds on SQL2000 build 818. This SQL instance was created on W2K3 by installing the Gold build followed by SP3A and then hotfix 826161. Looking at the registry values that MOM reports on shows under HKM/Software/Microsoft/MSSQLServer/MSSQLServer/CurrentVersion/CurrentVersion of 8.00.194 and CSDVersion of 8.00.761 Looks like SP3A or SP4 beta does not update the CurrentVersion registry key and/or maybe MOM is looking at the wrong place for its information. Any ideas? Thanks Chris Wood

Hello,

During the SETUP process; in the Feature selection, option select database
services; click browse and change the drive and directory
and continue the installation.

Thanks

3.SQL Server 2005 Express - problem during the installation (COM +)

Hello everybody
During the installation of SQL srv 2005 Express I got this warning abut COM
Plus Catalog Requirement:

If SQL Server Setup fails, Setup will roll back the installation but may not
remove all .manifest files. The workaround is to rename the files and then
rerun Setup. For more information, see How to: Work Around COM+ Check Failure
in SQL Server Setup.

I'm not able to find the "HOW to" document in google, msn, newsgroup ...
Please any idea? Many thanks
