  • 1. Please insert the disk. (msde sp3 upgrade)
Solved another way. I downloaded the 70 MByte SP3A which installed into a directory of the C: drive. It installed without a hitch and a Select @@version in query analyzer verifies that I have a valid sql instance of SP3. -greg "Hazzard" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message news:u48$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM ... > Not very funny. • 2. MSDE SP3 Distribution on disk
I can install the SP3a after unzipping it and using the appropriate switches and it takes fine when run from the computers hard drive. When I use demoshield and burn the sp3 with the same switches onto a disk it starts the installation and about 3/4 of the way thru halts and asks for a disk insert. Any ideas of why the behavior would be different for a disk distribution to my msde installed clients? Thank you in advance Eddie

  • 4. SQLScheduler
I have a number of jobs I've added to the SqlServerAgent. Most of these run continuously. However, after starting 12 of them, subsequent jobs get a 'Waiting for worker thread'. I've upped the # of worker threads from 255 gradually up to 1000, but still get exactly the same message. Any idea how to fix this? Frank

     SQL Server file system objects

            Hello World!....

            Here is the scenerio..

            SQL Server Database
            VB FrontEnd App.
App loads XML file data into database.

Changes are often made to the XML files. When changes are made,
the files must be reloaded into the database via the application. Changes
have been missed causing loss of production and jobs being processed
incorrectly.

I am looking for a script that will check the filedate of the
xml file or the filedate tag in the xml against a 'DesignFileDate' field in
the database. If a discrepancy in the filedates is identified, I want to
load the XML data to a temporary table [ExchangeTable] into the database.

The developer will provide a process to either load the data
into the production database or delete the data. This will be processed from
the Exchange table.

Having no background in programming languages and fairly new to
SQL this is quite a challenge.

            Any assistance is greatly appreciated..

            Regards

3.Check file existence and date time of the file - VBscript

4.Checking if File Exist without using the ActiveX Script Task

I have a visual basic program that uses the DTSPackage
Object Library to execute DTS packages. Is there a way to
check to see if the file that is going to be imported
exists other than then the ActiveX Script Task. I have
been looking for a method in the Object Library that will
do this for me. Also is the a method that will tell me if
a Package exists before I try to run it?

5.SSIS - check for duplicate file in Script task?

I've got two folders - Folder1 contains files that I want to process.
Folder2 contains files that I've processed in the past. I want to
compare the filenames as I go through and see if they're already in
folder2 before I process folder1. I've got it working, but it's
painfully slow (I've got about 325 files in Folder2). I'm using a
nested ForEach container (outer container is folder 1, inner container
is folder 2). Each of them has a variable mapped to the filename, then
in a script task, I compare the filename & move the file if it's
already been processed. It takes 3-5 minutes to run through the 300+
filenames on this network drive. What would be a better way to do
this???
