Hello everybody During the installation of SQL srv 2005 Express I got this warning abut COM Plus Catalog Requirement: If SQL Server Setup fails, Setup will roll back the installation but may not remove all .manifest files. The workaround is to rename the files and then rerun Setup. For more information, see How to: Work Around COM+ Check Failure in SQL Server Setup. I'm not able to find the "HOW to" document in google, msn, newsgroup ... Please any idea? Many thanks

Hello newsgroup. I am having trouble finding visual studio console in the server console and when I try to reinstall it it appears that it is allready installed. It it possible to run visual studio developer console inside of a itanium machine? or will I have to install it on a separate machine? -- Xavier Merino Grupomas

Can SQL server be installed on XP Professional and used as a server, not just for development but for use as an active database? It is my understanding that only the SQL manager can be used to control the database. Is this true? Thank you for your help.

What tool are you using when you receive that error?
Have you tried looking into the ALTER TABLE command? You can execute this command from Query Analyzer.

2.Urgent:Error in UPDATETEXT across servers

Hi, I have to update the text field (extra) of a table(test1) in a db
(DB_TEST) in another server (152.192.12.97) from my current server. I am
using the following method:
begin

DECLARE @ptr_ps Binary(16)
DECLARE @col_ps varchar(200)
SELECT @ptr_ps = TEXTptr(extra) FROM [152.192.12.97].DB_TEST.dbo.test1 WHERE
id='1112'
SET @col_ps = 'new'
UPDATETEXT [152.192.12.97].[DB_TEST].dbo.test1.extra @ptr_ps NULL 0 @col_ps
end

This gives me the error:
The number name '152.192.12.97.DB_TEST.dbo.test1' contains more than the
maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 3.

Please help. Its urgent.

3.URGENT: error 2812

Hello:

I'm in the middle of an implementation and have
encountered error 2812 though I can see the object to
exist. Here's what I'm trying to do.

I have established a link server and can query tables on
that linked server successfully. I also created a couple
of stored procedures on the link server and when I attempt
to execute those stored procedures (e.g. EXEC
server1.admin..sproc1), SQL server reports error 2812.

The stored procedures created are owned by dbo.

Any help here would be great. Thanks.

4.HELP URGENT - Error 17832 after SQL 7 SP4 install and MS03-039 install

I have an application that was developed in an older version of VB (I think
4.0). The users are heavily dependent on this application (and of course,
no source code). Yesterday the users were able to connect to the SQL 7
database. Last night I ran the Service Pack 4 on the SQL 7 machine and
today the users are unable to connect. They just get an error message
(Invalid SQL Server Login). When I look in the error log on the server I
see Error: 17832, Severity: 18, State: 7 Connection opened but invalid
login packet(s) sent. Connection closed.

Also, the latest security patch from Microsoft (MS03-039) was installed on
the server that houses the database. It is running Windows 2000.
Thanks

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

5.URGENT - error creating database SQL 2000

I am trying to create a new database on our SQL Server
2000. Now all I get is an error:

Error 226: CREATE DATABASE statement not allowed within
multi-statement transaction

error window title says "Microsoft SQL_DMO (ODBC SQLState:
42000)

This server has been running fine for over a year. Only
change was loading lastest hot fixes from MS.

Please - any help would be appreciated.
