Hi I have 3 applications that run on SQL, 2 financial and 1 customers managment application. There are 3 databases each 2 GB. 2 of the applications runs under SQL2K, and 1 run on SQL 7. On each application there are 15 users. My q. are: 1) Can I run SQL7 and SQL2K on the same machine? 2) Is it ok to put the 3 applications on the same server? ( the server is: Compaq ML 350 G4 with 6 disk 2*36GB for system and 4 *36GB for the database, 2 CPU, 2GB of ram. Win2003 server)? Than"X Shay
  • 3. Analysis Services?
Hi, I recently installed SQL Server 2005 on a new server, no databases configured yet. The tech support folks for the application that will use this server said I also need analysis services installed. I just finished installing analysis services on this computer now but cannot seem to connect to the analysis services component from within the management studio. Any suggestions? What else needs to be done to configure analysis services? When I try to connect it gives the error: Cannot connect to <my sql server> Additional information: A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. (the analysis service is running) (Microsoft.AnalysisService.adomdClient) Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. (System) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host(system). Windows Server 2003 Standard, 64-bit is the platform if that matters. Thanks in advance, Linn
  • 4. Verbose Application Logging?
How can I make all services and jobs and etc verbosely log to the Application Log on the server? Replication stuff goes to a table, jobs go to tables, etc. I would like to centrally capture them all so my monitoring tool can just go to a single place. Thanks.

SQL Server September 2005 CTP Developer Edition installation error

Postby Um95 » Sun, 30 Oct 2005 01:18:18 GMT

am trying to install the CTP version of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition
on Windows 2000 sp4. It passes the prerequisite install and system checking.
However, when it tries to install SQL Server, it crashes with a "The memory
could not be 'read'" error message for msiexec.exe. It also generate 5 log
files: _Support.log, _Core.log, _SCC.log, _WI.log and _Core(Local).log.
Any ideas? The _Core(Local).log file content is below, since it is the last
log file created.
Thanks.

i Roy,

Any luck getting this resolved. I just ran into the exact same problem, and
the only reference I was able to find was your (unanswered) post here.

Thanks,

Wayne

1.SQL Server 2005 CTP April 2005 - Developer Edition Installation Fa

I have SQL Server 2000 Develioper Ediction (SP3) running on my machine. I
installed SQL Server 2005 CPT - April 2005 but after the setup process
finishes installing the database services it fails to start the MSSQLSERVER
service. If I try to restart the service manually, I get an error saying the
service stopped after restarting. Cancelling the SQL Server 2005 setup (which
is the only option) uninstalls SQL Server 2005, and the previous version of
SQL Server 2000 is no longer available as the installation process had
completed and the backup files were deleted.

I have tried twice reinstalling SQL Server 2000 with the options
REINSTALL=ALL and REINSTALLMODE=omus to clean up the registry of any previous
installation keys, installing SQL Server SP3, rebooting the machine, and then
running the SQL Server CTP setup. I have verified that the SQL Server and
SQLSERVERAGENT logon account be the local system account and I am logged as
Administrator so I have full permissions on the machine but the problem
persists. My Event Viewer shows the following error:

FallBack certificate initialization failed with error code: 2812.

Any ideas as to how I can solve the problem?

Thanks,

2.Installation Woes with SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition CTP

Further to my previous post, I've still been unable to install the SQL
Server 2005 Developer Edition.

The following section was lifted from the SQL Log file, can anybody shed any
light as to what is going on here and more importantly how does one resolve
this problem.

Many thanks

3.SQL Server 2005 Developer (September CTP)

Anybody know why I'm having problems connecting with SQL Server Management
Studio to SQL Server 2005 Developer (September CTP) running on WindowsXP
Professional. I'm able to connect to the instance just fine when logged into
the machine but not able to connect from other machiens. I've enable

5.September SQL 2005 CTP setup has unexpected error.

Hi,

During the Sept. CTP setup I get the following when it tries to install the
Workstation tools. Anyone else get this and work around it? What is the
difference between the Sept. and June CTPs?

"There was an unexpected failure during the setup wizard. You may review
the setup logs and/or click the help button for more information."

I didn't find anything in the logs and when setup asked me to find more info
online regarding this message it said there is no further info on this error.

Thanks.
