Is the SQLAgent Windows account supposed to be automatically created upon installing SQL Server? Or am I supposed to create it manually after SQL Server installation. The reason I ask is because SQL Server was installed on a new server, but I can't find the SQLAgent account.

Haven't got Management Studio after install

Postby Steen Persson (DK) » Wed, 01 Mar 2006 23:43:35 GMT

Hi

This is one of the problems that has been asked a number of times, but I
haven't been able to find a solution.
I've installed SQL 2005 on a Windows 2000 server (with SP4). It's
installed a named instance since I have SQL 2000 running as a default
instance on the server. My problem is that after the intall, I haven't
got SQL Server Management Studio. I can see that the folder has been
created ( C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn ) but it's
missing a lot of stuff when I compare to another server where I've
installed it without any problems.
There where no errors during the install, and I've also tried to run a
re-install etc. but to no avail. I've installed SQL 2005 on several
other servers without this problem, but this is the only one running
Windows 2000, so maybe that's my problem.

Does any of you know if there're any tricks I need to do to get the
Management Studio installed?

Regards

You have to install the client tools on the setup installer, just run
the setup process again via ADD /Remove programs in the control panel.

Hi Jens

I have already checked that I'd install the client tools, and I've also
tried it via Add/Remove Programs but to no avail. If I try to install it
again, it says that it won't install it because it's already installed.
By now I've installed SQL 2005 numerous times without any problems but
this is the first time I do it on a Windows 2000 server so I'm wondering
if there's anything "special" about that?

Hi S{*filter*}.

I experienced the same issue, on a XP installation containing. I was in a
hurry, sp didn't do much on finding out why - but I solved the problem by
uninstalling everything related to SQL 2000 and 2005 and then doing an
install again in opposite order (2005 befor 2000)

FYI - we do not recommend installing SQL2000 post SQL2005. If you later
uninstall 2000 or 2005 the uninstall will break the remaining installation.
If this happens you'll need to reinstall the remainin installation.

In this case it's not so important to get the Management Studio
installed on the server, so I won't re-install everything. Then I just
leave it like it is..;-).

Is it still impossible to run Management Studio for SQL Server 2005 and

I would like to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced

Hi

Does anybody know if there's an easy way to import old query templates

in there without having to do it "by hand".

After installing the 53.8 MB SQL Express service pack I keep getting an
error when I try to install SQL Express management studio, the stand alone

To solve the problem however, I downloaded the full SQL express advanced
