  • 1. Missing "SQL Server 2000 Licensing Setup"
I would like to increase the number of processor licenses, but if I open the control panel, there's no icon. Maybe it's, because we had 2 SQL-instances and deinstalled one. How can I get back this icon? My Server: SQL Server 2000 Enterprise SP3 Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4
  • 2. restoring MSDB to different editions of SQL
I have to upgrade a SQL Server 2000 Standard Ed to Enterprise Ed. The Server it resides on is being rebuilt to I cannot do an upgrade as such. I plan to restore from backups. My question is, can I restore the standard edition of MSDB to an Enterprise edition of SQL? I want to retain my jobs, DTSs and maintenance plans. Thanks in advance jason
  • 3. Errors when updating a table after upgrading to SQL 2005
Ok, upgraded our sql 2000 servers to 2005 and now a site using ASP 3.0 doing a RS.AddNew ... RS.Update is now throwing an error of Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not find server 'NS1' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers. /manage/inc_post_events.asp, line 57 where it never had that problem. So i ran the sp_addlinkedserver NS1 and now when trying to do the update, we are getting Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e23' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The cursor does not include the table being modified or the table is not updatable through the cursor. /manage/inc_post_events.asp, line 57 Anyoen have any ideas on this?
  • 4. Install client tools without CD?
Hi All: Is it possible to install client tools on a server in a remote location where I can't physically put the CD in the drive? I have both a copy of the entire CD on the hard drive (e.g. "f:\sql2K") and I also have an ISO image of the CD copied to the server. Is there any way to run setup that way so I can install the Client tools? I don't need SQL Server installed on this machine, just the client network utility! If I try to run "setupsql.exe" in the "\x86\setup\" directory I get an error "application is disabled". If I start the "autorun.exe" it allows me to click "install SQL Server" but it goes no further than that. TIA, AK --

Hi, we are in the process of planning the future version of SQL Server
Express and would like to solicit feedback from the community on the setup
and installation experience of SQL Server Express edition. So if you have a
few moments, please tell us what you think -- What do you like/dislike and
what improvements do you think should be made in this experience.

1.Setup SQL 2000 Liked Server from SQL 2008

Hi there is it possible to connect a SQL 2000 server as a linked server in

I'm getting SQL Server Error 65535 when I try.

2.Please help SQL Setup "Fatal" error during Express Setup

I am trying to run an express setup and every time, just after installing
SQL Server, the setup prompts me to re-insert the SMS Setup disk then

I have tried this on many different machines. I am using SQL 2000 so next
time I am using SQL 7 (maybe this works better?)

However, I got it to work with SQL 2000 on one machine, but this had 2
CD-ROM drives and I put SMS CD in one, SQL in the other and it worked!!

Please help to get my Express Setup to work.

3.SQL Server 2005 Setup - Still Seeing Beta components ...

Here is what I have done as the last measure in resolving this issue (still
to no avail!)

Used Add/Remove Programs and removed EVERYTHING except the Service Pack 1
and ancillary update patches for Windows Server 2003. Nothing else runs on
the box at this time except the OS. ... I then rebooted.

I formatted the drive I planned on installing SQL Server 2005 and Visual
Studio 2005 on.

I double checked that there were no remenants of the Beta versions of SQL
Server 2005 and VS 2005 in the Start..Programs area as well as folders on the
physical drives.

I installed VS2005 Professional Ed. on to the E: drive (it has 56GB of room).

Install went GREAT ... no errors.

Rebooted just to set the install in!

I then tried to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Ed. and it fails right
off saying that there are beta components still there that is cannot install
w/. (I can get the exact error message relayed if needed ... ).

I am at a loss ... unless it is buried somewhere in the Registry ... I am
not sure where or how to proceed.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Have a great day!
Thanks ...

4.ODBC DSN Setup not seeing SQL2K db in dropdown

When I attempt to create an ODBC DSN (User or System) using the SQL
Server driver and NT authentication, most databases are not visible in
the dropdown. The database I need to link to, named "DEV_CORP", is
setup as my NT accounts default. So I can create the DSN and it works
fine if I leave that db entry blank. But I want to specify the db name
in the DSN instead, because I eventually will have TEST_CORP, DEV_FIN,
or other db's on the same server. So overall, the problem is that
DEV_CORP is not visible in the db dropdown.

When I use Access 2000 ADP (Access Data Projects) - which uses OLEDB
instead of ODBC - I can see and link to all of the databases (those I
have rights to obviously) - the dropdown is full of all the databases
(most are named like DEV_*).

Is this caused by my fairly old ODBC/MDAC? Its a corporate PC and they
frown on individual upgrades, but if an updated MDAC would fix this, I
can get the ok to do it.

SQL Server ODBC Driver 2000.80.380 (4/11/2001) - I assume from MDAC
2.6 SP1.
Windows 2000 Pro sp2, Office 2000 sr1

Any ideas would be great, thanks,
