We are migrating our existing SQL Server 2000 to a new hardware. By mistake we choose Per CAL while installation. If we go to ControlPanel-->SQL Server 2000 Licensing Setup, the option for choosing Processor License is disabled. How do we re-set it to Processor License?

  • 3. Rebuild Master DB to change collation settings, SQL Server 2005
Hi, I am trying to change the collation of a stand alone, named instance of a sql 2005 using the following command. Once the operation is completed, the collation has not changed to the newly specified one. start /wait <CD or DVD Drive>\setup.exe /qn INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER REINSTALL=SQL_Engine REBUILDDATABASE=1 SAPWD=<NewStrongPassword> SQLCOLLATION=<NewSystemCollation> Am I missing anything here? I am pointing to the original installation files which is in the network. In earlier version the REBUILDM.EXE could do the work well. My second option is uninstall folowed by the reinstall operation. Any pointers are greatly appreciated. -- Manoj Kumar
  • 4. Problem attaching Northwind traders sample database in SQL Server 2005
I'm having some trouoble attaching the Northwind sample to an instance of SQL Server 2005 on Vista. When I attempt to attach the database I receive an error: Database 'Northwind' cannot be upgraded because it is read-only or has read-only files. Make the database or files writeable, and rerun recovery. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error:3415) I have been able to attach other samples, such as adventureworks, so I think it is something to do with attaching SQL 2000 developed databases, and my security settings. Thanks for any advice.
  • 5. 2005 upgrade
I'll be doing an in-place upgrade of a couple SQL 2k boxes in a couple of days. One has a publication/subscription that the other box pulls. Should I do my SQL 2k5 upgrades in any particular order? For example, do the subscriber box first then the publisher, or vice versa? Do I need to drop the subscription, or can I leave it in place and do my upgrade? Thanks, Andre

Books Online

Postby Brian Rottman » Sun, 02 Nov 2003 06:06:01 GMT

I am constantly working with SQL 2000 at my clients sites because we are
  a Microsoft Business Solutions Partner.

Is there any way for me to take Books Online and have it in a single
help file or some system so that I have easy reference to it?

I've tried taking the help files that make up Books Online and putting
them on a CD but I just can't seem to get it to work.

In researching a way to improve data access through our
network, I'm thinking about changing from mdb to adp.
Before I do that, I'm reading and testing to make sure I
dont do anything wrong. I downloaded SQL Books online
(36MB file) from Microsoft. Thing is that Books Online
point to many examples that were not installed. I
followed the readme instructions and I cant find a
reference to a different download for the example files.
I only have MSDE and that came with office XP. Do I need
to have SQL Server in order to have the full installation
of Books Online (the example files) or am I missing

4.Books OnLine (chm files) Problem

Hi All,

I searched this news group but couldn't find that problem which
is suprising... maybe I'm doing something stupid.

I start one of the chm files (books on line help files).
I read about a topic. There are links.
I click on them. It tells me "Selection is not associated with any
topic. Please try again.". Its ahref link to jscript function:
javascript:hhobj_1.Click() but I do not have it and cannot find it.
So I have to go between all those chm files hoping to find the topic
of my choice.
Plus I want to search them all at once.
There must be a (smart) and easy way to do this.
Please, do you have any suggestions.
