How do I determine my license type? I looked at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\MSSQLLicenseInfo\MSSQL8.00d and found concurrentlimit = 4. The server has 4 processors.

It appears that the SQL Server protocol handler is missing; Check the following registry key to see if it exists: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Search\1.0\ProtocolHandlers with a value of MSSQL75 If it is not there you can add it. Add a REG_SZ value MSSQL75 with a data value of sqlfth75.sqlfth75.1 You may need to reboot the machine for this to take effect. Remember that manually editing the registry can causse problems if it is not done correctly. Rand This posting is provided "as is" with no warranties and confers no rights.

I have an XP client that recieves the following when attempting to start Enterprise Manager. Snap-in failed to initialize: Name: Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager CSLID:{00100100-1816-11D0-8EF5-00AA0062C58F} I have uninstalled SQL Server several times, including removing the MSSQL7 folder and HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer registry key. MMC has no problem loading any other plug-ins, but I have noticed that when I try to load the snap-in directly into MMC, (Add/Remove Snap-in) in the Available Standalone Snap-ins dialog, the vendor name doesn't appear. Any ideas??

1.SQL 2005 db restore error

Hi all,

today 1 hdd crashed on our data RAID. So we replaced the hdd and the raid
controller rebuilds the RAID with the new hdd.
From that moment our SQL 2005 crashes and could not start because of the
corrupt master DB. I don't know why?
Now i rebuild system databases with the SQL CD and want to restore the
backup of the master db. This also failed with a MSSQLSERVER EventId 5243
(...internal process ... inconsistency). I've never seen that error and i
really don't know what to do now.
Is there a way to repair SQL backup files?

Thanks

2.SQL 2000 + SQL 2005 Express Compatibility (restore SQL 2005 DB with 2000 DB)

Sofar I have used SQL 2000 developer edition. So I was pretty happy that MS
jumped on the freeware train and gave us SQL 2005 Express Server.

I was pretty convinced that it would be easy to restore a new SQL 2005
Express DB with an existing SQL 2000 DB file.
Unfortunately I was not able to do this. So you can imagine I was pretty
disapointed.

So my Question is, did I overlook something, and the Restoring is still
afterall possible, or is it really impossible to restore a SQL 2005 Express
DB with an existing SQL 2000 DB file, which in my opionion would be a big MS
fault.
Backward compatibility?

Thanks for the Help

You cannot restore the db back to SQL Server 2000. One method is to create
an empty database in SQL Server 2000 the by using DTS Package transfer the
data from SS2005 to SS2000
