I just unintalled the SQL Server 2000 database tools from a development machine which I wanted to install the full SQL Server 2000 Developer including the database server components. From the main screen I select "SQL Server 2000 Components" and then "Install Database Server", however I then recieve a small error dialog stating: Setup Initialization Error - Error performing inpage operation. Source 'E:\x86\setup\..\Upgrade\Res\1033\cldtcstp.rll' Target 'C:\Windows\Temp\SqlSetup\Bin\cldtcstp.rll' Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance Doug Holland
  • 4. MDAC Installation failure on SQL 2K with Windows 2000 Pro SP4
I attempted to install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition on a Win2K Pro SP4 system. It failed trying to install MDAC. The lines from sqlstp.log are: 15:25:48 End Action: Locked Connectivity Files Check 15:25:48 Setup is installing Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) ... 15:25:48 D:\ENGLISH\SQL2000\DEV\x86\Other\sqlredis.exe /q:a /C:"setupre.exe WARN=1 -s -SMS" 15:26:37 ExitCode: -1 15:26:39 Installation of the Microsoft Data Access Components package failed. (-1) I downloaded the MDAC component checker and it thinks MDAC 2.5 SP3 is currently installed. I looked at KB286442: The only older version of Odbcconf.dll was in one of the service pack directories. I downloaded the Unmgrt.exe file and the 2.7 SP??? mdac_typ.exe file and ran unmigrt.cmd. The install failed again. I then looked at KB232060: I stopped the anti-virus and all the processes/services that the MDAC setup suggested I stop. I have sufficient disk space and a valid TEMP. The installation failed in the same manner. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get a new version of MDAC installed on this box? Thanks, Bob

SQLServer 2000 and SqlBase (Centura 6.1.2)

Postby Gemma Guerrero » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 00:26:38 GMT

Hi there

We have Centura 6.1.2 Server (Sqlbase) installed on a
Windows 2000 server.
We would like to install SQLServer 2000 on the same
machine and I was wondering if it may incur in some
conflict.

Does anyone know if having these two database servers
installed on the same server may create any problems ?

Thanks a lot !
Gemma

I don't know of any conflicts between these two, which does not mean that
they do not exist. But the point I wanted to make is that having two
database servers installed on the same machine would be a constant battle
for resources - both are _really_ CPU/mem/I\O intensive and it is not a good
idea if this is a production system.

sincerely,

1.DTS Importing data from Centura SQLBase DB Using SQLBase DSN

I am working to move the data via the DTS from a Centura SQLBase database to
SQL Server Database (2000).

I can right click on my new database, go under all tasks, and import data.
I then select my SQLBase Data Source Name, and put in the UID/password to
the database.

When I click on the Next, nothing happens here. Some things to note: The
user (say SYSADMIN) is not in the SQL logins.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate all and any
help you can provide.

3.Sqlbase to Sqlserver migration

Hi,

what is the way/s to handle database migration from sqlbase 6.1
(gupta) to sqlserver 2000?

The databse I want to migrate from sqlbase is of the same subject (HR)
with the existing sqlserver databse, but different schema (tables
design is different).

I was thinking to do export sqlbase tables as ASCII format then do
import from sqlserver? But there will be some mismatch as the schemas
in the two databses are different.

Any idea/s is greatly appreciated!

4.Connect SQL Server 2000 to SQLBase 7.5.1

I am using SQL Server 2000 & VS.Net 2003 and need to pull data from SQLBase
7.5.1

I can connect using an older ODBC connection. I have tried connecting using
newer ODBC and OLEDB drivers without success. If anyone has experience
working between these two, I would like to hear from you. I am looking for
some good reference material (books/websites), and any tips on what does and
does not work. I have not had much success going through GUPTA's web site and
I can not connect with their newsgroup.

Thank you

5.Upgrading ASP w/SQLserver 2000 to ASP.NET w/ SQLserver 2005

I have some old ASP programs w/ SQLserver 2000 databases. Now I am
developing ASP.NET projects using VB 2005 and SQLserver 2005. What are the
best procedures to develop and test the ASP.NET programs?

My main concerns are:
1. What do I need to test? VB 2005/ASP.NET with 2000 data? Migration of
2000 data to SQLserver 2005? VB 2005/ASP.NET with 2005 data?
2. How to minimize the transition time? What is the critical change for
the end users? SQLserver 2000 to 2005 or ASP to ASP.NET?
