What are the pros and cons of creating a mksysb with map files. If I do, will I be able to restore to a different machine? I need the backups to be restorable to the existing machine and (in case of a DR scenerio) another machine.

Hi I am having trouble finding various system calls in man man shmget Manual entry for shmget not found or not installed. Do I need to install the manual pages for this, or is MANPAGE not correct CHeers

We're supposed to upgrade our C/C++ compilers on our AIX 5.2 servers to meet some prereqs for an Oracle upgrade. Currently we're running VisualAge 6.0. I have in my mitts the licenses and the media for XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition V7.0. The install docs say I can do a migrate install. One of my colleagues here insists that I have to uninstall VisualAge 6.0 and do a fresh install of XL C/C++ Enterprise. So which is it?

Is there a script/tool that can be used to document VIO servers and resources that are attached to the LPARs that it services? Either something that will just output in text form or a graphical view? Thanks

inulag message while removing package from shared wpar

Postby lbalders » Sat, 10 Jul 2010 03:04:50 GMT

While removing a root package from shared wpar ('syncwpar' after
'installp -u' from AIX global environment), the following message is
displaying, after the fileset.unpost_i has run:

inulag: The file system has read permission only.
Finished processing all filesets.

The package in question does not have a LAF enry in lpp_name.

Any idea how to suppress this message?

TIA
