  • 1. ncurses and ansi control codes
I just posted this in comp.unix.questions but thought it may be better suited for this group. My question is when you print each character from a string to a window, i.e. waddch, is there some way to make curses properly handle any ansi control codes that happen to be embedded in that string? Thanks
  • 2. Question for dbx.
Hi All, My program core dumped. Below is dbx information: ************************************************************************ .... detected a multithreaded program t@141 (l@141) terminated by signal BUS (object specific hardware error) 0xfe7d4150: strcat+0x0020: ldsb [%o1], %o0 current thread: t@141 =>[1] strcat(0x0, 0x41dadfeb, 0xf54fb2f9, 0xf54fb2f8, 0x0, 0x2400), at 0xfe7d4150 ... ************************************************************************ It's caused by strcat? And if it is, why strcat caused core dump? The first address of strcat is 0x0. So the reason is passing null to strcat? Thanks. Franklin

Parallel port

Postby Levente KOVACS » Thu, 15 Apr 2004 18:35:07 GMT

Hi folks,

I want to programm my ULTRA-1's parallel port. I want to read and write
bytes directly to the I/O pins. Is it possible somehow? I could do it
easy with Linux/i386.

This is for a PIC programmer.

3.parallel port ppdev write always returns 0

Hello all,

I'm running kernel 2.4.20 and am having problems writing to /dev/parport0.
lsmod says that ppdev, parport and parport_pc are loaded. I can open,
ioctl(fd, PPCLAIM), and set the mode to IEEE1284_MODE_COMPAT without any
error. But when I call write, write always returns a 0 and perror reports
"Success". This happens on two radically different x86 boxes running
gentoo using two different sets of kernel sources (but the same rev
2.4.20).

dmesg | grep parport :
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778) [PCSPP(,...)] parport0: irq 7 detected

It looks like everything's fine, but write always return 0 bytes written.
Does anyone have any suggestions or place to search? I've scanned google
web/groups and scanned some lists, to no avail.

TIA,
Tim

5.---Parallel port testing

Dear All,
I am engaged in creating a progran to test the embeded linux system
during production.
Now my problem is how can test the parallel port without other device
(printer, pc ,etc).
I hope to have a simple circuit connected to the port and build a user
program to send
some data and recieve it by iteself.

Somebody is expexried with this and help with that?
