  • 1. Mozilla 1.2.1 and Personal Security Manager?
I just installed the official Sun Mozilla 1.2.1 package, but whenever I try to access an encrypted page (https:), I get a dialog box "This document cannot be displayed unless you install the Personal Security Manager (PSM). Download and install PSM and try again, or contact your system administrator." I looked around sun.com but could find PSM to download. A general web search turned up mentions of PSM, but no Solaris binaries to install. Can anyone tell me where I get this? A browser that can't access encrypted pages is pretty crippled... I'm running Solaris 8. Chris Mattern

Have two USB2.0 flashdisk drives , 64Mb Centon - 512Mb Fujitsu. Both work exactly the same and perfect on PC's. The Centon works perfect on three different Blade2K's uses to test with - no issues. The 512Mb fujitsu will not work on any of the Solaris machines , device drivers never get built - played all combinations of vold and boot sequences , etc to try and get it to recognize the drive but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions as to the issue.

Hello, I bought an external DVD-writer and an external Floppy drive for my SUN Blade 1500. The DVD-writer works fine with cdrecord but can't find my Floppy drive. Can anyone help me to get the floppy drive to work? Which steps I have to do? Thanks Daniel Seichter
  • 4. PCI IDE Card in SPARC box
Hi, has anybody successfully configured a PCI IDE card on a sparc box, and make it run under Solaris? Is it expected to work, and further- more: might it be bootable? I'm currently using a SunBlade 100 - so it has OBP support for IDE booting. Cheers to the world! Peter

3.boot sun fire v100 from an external USB cd/dvd

I found bunch of posts but really none of them seemed to have said if
it's possible, and if so how.

I am trying to install a v100 from a DVD rom, but sonce the box comes
with cd only and no scsi, I am trying to figure it out.
Yes, I know I can install from cd, or boot of the network.. my point
is judt somply knowing if I can do it from USB attached CD/DVD.
(It's an ide cdrom put into an external usb2/firewire case).

Of course I cannot see it in probe-scsi or ide, or any other (sifting
usb did not show anythng to probe all usb), however it shows just fine
when I boot into the OS (Sol9) (/dev/dsk/c1t0d0 - as opposed to c0 for
internals).

I tried booting off of /pci@1f,0/usb@a/storage@1:0
The way I got this path was playing between devalias and ls...

Well.. it is not working.

I even tried to dd the dvd to c1t2d0s0 (or s2) to see if then I could
trick the os to think it was a CD.. well. sure enough this did not
work...

So I am back to trying USB.. any ideas/suggestions would be greatly
appreciated...
it just does not seem it should ba quite that hard, but of couse SUN
does not support it so I am on my own and hate not knowing how to do
it.

Thx in advance for any ideas.

5.Need help with Sun Fire V100

Hi,
I bought Sun Fire V100 from EBay but seems to be defective. But I can't seem
to find what's wrong with it.
First couple of times it booted nicely and I thought everything is fine.
Wishful thinking.
Then it started to hang on boot. booting device ... args ...
For example it boots fine, and when I do reboot it ends up booting from net
(in loop) although need to boot from disk.
I posted some outputs that can help someone to conclude what is wrong.
