I am seeing "disk not responding to selection" errors on the Cosole on my Solaris 10 server. Will these messages also be in a log somewhere?

Hello, I have to programatically send some emails with attachments, from solaris 8 sparc, and sendmail is installed. Or is it? I am not sure - I only have two files in /etc/mail mailx.rc and Mail.rc I have an idea that sendmail.rc and some other stuff should be in this dir as well. I am going to read the sendmail FAQ asap. Anything obvious I should check out? I have already been given a mail relay for outgoing mail (which is all that is required) and a tight deadline <sigh> Thanks in advance for any assistance! Carlos

Usually errors about gettext can also be worked around by passing --disable-nls to configure. (not quoting the rest of the post, which is completely right)

compile solaris padl nss_ldap

Postby wyl_lyf » Sun, 16 May 2004 00:45:05 GMT

hello all,

I would like to ask if anybody has successfully compiled nss_ldap on
solaris 8 machine. To me, it was asking for berkley database. Is this
optional or required? I don't want to unecessarily put in berkeley if
its not really needed?

You can check the README to see if it's required. It has a software
map that lists the required packages. Why not use Sun's pam_ldap?

Hello! thanks for the advice. I don't think I saw anything on the
README file that tells me that Berkeley DB is required. I wish I could
make do with the native pam_ldap and nss_ldap but I need to
enable-schema-mapping to be able to authenticate or use the Active
directory stuff.

Does anybody here have tried to use the native ldap on solaris and
connect to Active Directory?

thanks! really at a loss. :(

1.padl nss_ldap + nscd + solaris 10 update 5

I have compiled in a static fashion in a way that it works
from Solaris 8 upwards. However as soon as I start nscd on Solaris 10
Update 5, the plugin stops to work (I think they changed the api
recently that accesses and that is why). Has somebody the
same problem and maybe a fix for it?

3.nss_ldap on Solaris 10 Update 5

is someone using nss_ldap together with Solaris 10 Update 5. I'm
currently facing an issue that I don't get LDAP informations as soon as
I start nscd. Can someone confirm that issue or maybe has solved it?

4.Solaris 8 nss_ldap frustration

For the life of me, I cannot get the Solaris 8 nss_ldap plugin to work

I've got RFC 2307 conformant entries in our directory that work with Solaris
9, 10, HP-UX, Linux (misc), OS X, but *not* Solaris 8.

The obvious problem I see (via snoop) is that regardless of the "alternate
search base" settings I make via ldapclient, nss_ldap goes and searches
under <ou=people,[search base]>. This is not where our account entries live.

I'm initializing the client using:

    ldapclient -i -v -b "ou=System,o=Company" \
        -B "passwd:ou=Staff,o=Company" \
        -B "group:ou=Group,ou=System,o=Company" \

Does anyone have any clues, or should I just give up and use PADL's nss_ldap
plugin instead of Sun's?

5.Compiling for Solaris 9 on solaris 8 machine

Hi, is it possible to compile solaris 9 binaries (User-mode app and kernel
modules) using workshop on a solaris 8 machine.

Several facts:
1.We don't use static linking at all.
2.The compiler is workshop.

If it is possible, what is the procedure?? I really don't want to waste a
potential test machine just for compilation.
