We have a quad NIC in a Netra. It's been up forever, but I needed to disconnect qfe0 cable to be used on another host. When I pulled the cable on qfe0, connection was lost on qfe1. After reboot, qfe1 was ok again. Never seen this before. Can someone hint on what could have happened? I almost got in big trouble since this was a prod host. Thanks. Ron W.

I just received a sun fire V50x box, for installing Solaris.

during Solaris installation the internal scsi disk is not found. I try
with solaris x86 2.8 and 2.9 (04/03). No result.
the diagnostic cd and the staup diagnostic found the disk.

I try all i know, nothing.

Thanks,
Guy

In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >,

The ISOs are downloadable from Sun's website.

You are right, it works fine.

I have to disable the raid support in the Adaptec bios too.
The initial scan of Configuration program choose the RAID driver, and
not the Scsi 320 driver.

Thanks to all,

2.How to bootable installation CD for Sun Fire

Hi,

I downloaded solaris 5.10 (CDs) for sparc 2 months ago, and when I
insert the CD 1 in to Sun Fir cdrom today, the machine can't boot up
the system from the CD. I used windows xp created the installation CD.

Here is the message when the machine trying to boot the CD:

When I insserted the CD into the Sun Fire
cdrom, it run all the way to the following line, then stop:

It seems that even if I have downloaded the file, I will still can't
make
it *bootable* through the CDROM in Sun Fire

How to make the downloaded Sol 5.10 files to be bootable from the
cdrom at Sun Fire?

thanks
Sam

3.Q: Sun v60x: Anyone installed Linux on one?

Im curious about sun's claims of hardware compatibility with
Linux on the Sun v60x (Intel Xenon) - has anyone installed
Red Hat - or better, Debian Linux on these boxes? Is there
somewhere that lists what the actual hardware devices internal
to these mysterious blue boxes actualy is? For instance, whose
ethernet chipset are they using? Does SUN OEM another manufacturer's
motherboard, etc?

Thanks in advance,

-Matt
