  • 2. ntp in cluster mode
Hi I need advice when configuring ntp on cluster. For now it uses /etc/inet/ntp.conf.cluster and server 127.127.1.0 as time server. But because of that this cluster at this moment 12 minutes faster than my whole environment. How can I configure it to use external ntp server? As I can see, /etc/init.d/xntpd.cluster stopes when it find /etc/inet/ntp.conf, so I assume I should still use /etc/inet/ntp.conf.cluster. Can I simply change field "server 127.127.1.0" to i.e. "server ntp.server.my"? Will nodes be still synchronized than? And should I do this on both nodes? Or on one only? Or maybe just use /etc/init.d/xntpd and /etc/inet/ntp.conf as conf file, but adding "peer clusternode1-priv prefer; peer clusternode2-priv" there? My actulaf conf files are (both same): server 127.127.1.0 peer clusternode1-priv prefer peer clusternode2-priv driftfile /var/ntp/ntp.drift filegen peerstats file peerstats type day enable filegen loopstats file loopstats type day enable filegen clockstats file clockstats type day enable how should they look after I switch to external ntp source? • 3. Size difference when copying LARGE file
Hi, Im trying to take a database backup. one of the files is 26 GB. I am using cp -pr to create a backup copy of the database. after the copying is complete, if i do du -hrs on the folders i saw a difference of 2GB. The weird fact is that the BACKUP folder was 2 GB more than the original one! when i did du -hrs * inside each of the 2 folders and compared the output, i found the culprit. it was a file temp.dbf which was 26 GB on the source(original) folder and 28 GB in the BACKUP folder. I tried the copy procedure twice and I am getting the same result. does anyone have any explanation for this. please let me know. I want to make sure everything is right here in the copy. PS:- Solaris SPARC 23 BIT. Thanks

2.FS: Sun Fire v100 on Ebay - 2 of them -like new -still under warranty

3.boot sun fire v100 from an external USB cd/dvd

I found bunch of posts but really none of them seemed to have said if
it's possible, and if so how.

I am trying to install a v100 from a DVD rom, but sonce the box comes
with cd only and no scsi, I am trying to figure it out.
Yes, I know I can install from cd, or boot of the network.. my point
is judt somply knowing if I can do it from USB attached CD/DVD.
(It's an ide cdrom put into an external usb2/firewire case).

Of course I cannot see it in probe-scsi or ide, or any other (sifting
usb did not show anythng to probe all usb), however it shows just fine
when I boot into the OS (Sol9) (/dev/dsk/c1t0d0 - as opposed to c0 for
internals).

I tried booting off of /pci@1f,0/usb@a/storage@1:0
The way I got this path was playing between devalias and ls...

Well.. it is not working.

I even tried to dd the dvd to c1t2d0s0 (or s2) to see if then I could
trick the os to think it was a CD.. well. sure enough this did not
work...

So I am back to trying USB.. any ideas/suggestions would be greatly
appreciated...
it just does not seem it should ba quite that hard, but of couse SUN
does not support it so I am on my own and hate not knowing how to do
it.

Thx in advance for any ideas.

4.Sun Fire V100 - Max IDE disk size?

Cant find anything in the documentation about this...

Anyone got any idea what the max disk size that the V100 will
recognise is? If there is a max...

5.Need help with Sun Fire V100

Hi,
I bought Sun Fire V100 from EBay but seems to be defective. But I can't seem
to find what's wrong with it.
First couple of times it booted nicely and I thought everything is fine.
Wishful thinking.
Then it started to hang on boot. booting device ... args ...
For example it boots fine, and when I do reboot it ends up booting from net
(in loop) although need to boot from disk.
I posted some outputs that can help someone to conclude what is wrong.
