Hi Here are the characteristics of what hit us: The DoS traffic has the following characteristics: It is a SYN flood on port 80 of the following ip address 194.177.124.26 Tries to send HTTP packets at a very high rate...WILD! Each packet is 40 bytes in length. Some fixed characteristics of the TCP and IP headers are: IP identification = 256 Time to Live = 128 Source IP address = a.b.x.y, where a.b are random and spoofed and and x.y are random and spoofed. And incrementing at super fast speed. Destination IP address = 194.177.124.26 TCP Source port is between 1000 and 1999 TCP Destination port = 80 TCP Window size = 16384 I looked around and found that it might be a blaster variant. But I am still unsure. Has anyone else experienced such a problem? This thing brought down our router to a halt at two sites. I tried to do a port scan on our data center servers using NMAP; but I wasn't able to continue the scan because my computer crashed and rebooted suddenly. Not sure what this is...anyone out there saw anything like this. Thanks in Advance
  • 2. BKDR_SDBOT.DP
I have tried to get rid of this virus for three weeks. I am running Windows 2000 Prof. The various scans I have done show that these four files are 'infected' with BKDR_SDBOT.DP: C:\winnt\system32\navmgrd.exe C:\winnt\system32\tftp1476 C:\winnt\system32\tftp1504 C:\winnt\system32\tftp908 After various 'fixes' and 'deletes', the files become re- infected, almost instantly. Is there any way to download these files from Microsoft, delete the files from my system32 folder and replace them with the downloaded files? Or---what can I do? Thank you for your help and time, Bob, XXXX@XXXXX.COM
  • 3. viruses that spread by address books?
Hi I have questions. Which viruses are the type that can use your address book to spread to the people you have in it??Is it only the OE address book that can be infected if you happen to open one of these viruses that mainly attack your address book?? Do these viruses come as attatchments or regular email? Can people who use yahoo, for example, be at risk in the address book in the yahoo account??? thanks for your input -- Thanks so very much for your help-! ! ! !

You probably need to clean up your computer before you can download and
install any antivirus. You should try to download the antivirus from a
different, clean machine with a cd-rw drive and burn it to a cd-r. You
should do the same with the following tools and then run them all
before installing the new full-featured av:

First, get TrendMicro's Sysclean which has the advantage of not needing
to be installed. It requires two parts - the scanning engine and the
virus pattern files.

1. Create a new folder on your Desktop or the C: drive named something
useful like "Sysclean".
2. Go here and download the two parts of the program to that folder:

 http://www.**--****.com/
 http://www.**--****.com/

3. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. Get into Safe Mode by repeatedly
tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up to get to the proper
menu.
4. Go to the Sysclean folder you made and double-click on sysclean.com.
Start the scan. After the scan is finished, look at the log. You may
need to make a note of where any viruses were found if they were not
able to be removed so you can manually delete them.

Now, remove any spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure
to update these programs before running them. These programs are free,
so run them both since they complement each other. It is best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. You may also want to
run CWShredder and HijackThis from http://www.**--****.com/
Although CWShredder is no longer being updated, it will still clean
older variants of the CoolWebSearch malware. A combination of
HijackThis and About:Buster ( http://www.**--****.com/ ) works well in
removing homepage hijackers. Please read the instructions carefully.
Make sure you are able to see all hidden files and extensions (View tab
in Folder Options).

Next, after your computer is reasonably clean, install your
full-featured av and a firewall. Update the av's virus definitions and
do a full scan, again in Safe Mode.
