Read the manual that came with the software wither in book or PDF format. Dave | want to install software | mnfr. warns to disable any anti-virus programs during | installation | xp has a norton's anti virus program in the oper sys. | | HOW DO I DISABLE THIS? | | YT
Right-click on the Norton icon that is in your system tray (lower right-hand corner of your screen). From the resulting menu, left-click on "Disable". You'll now see a little red "x" over the Norton icon. Malke -- MS MVP - Windows Shell/User Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!"
Malke: Isn't it sad that people won't read the Norton help files? Yes. The refusal to look at a program's help file or to do any learning about how to use a program they've bought seems to be endemic to certain home users. I think part of it is fear of the computer (I have a lot of clients who have never right-clicked the mouse button), and of course part of it is laziness. Generally, if I get a request like that from a paying client, I'm happy to give a tutorial. In a newsgroup, I'd rather point to Google or an url, wouldn't you? Although in this particular case, it was quicker for me to just tell them about the Magic Right Click. I agree. I don't like helping those who are unwilling to help themselves. The end users often forget THEIR responsibilities when using or maintaining their computers.
