I've just started using Visio. I've been looking but I can't discern if there is a standardized listing of shape meanings. For example, if the trapazoid means a process. I've tried different strings to see if I can find something that references what the shapes mean but apparently I'm not wording it properly. I've tried looking on the MS website but again there doesn't seem to be a reference. Please help. Denyse
  • 3. standard vs. pro
Hi Folks, I know I need Visio to do Data Flow Diagrams, but I don't know the important differences between standard and pro that would help me decide. Is there a link to a page that displays these differences in an easy-to-understand format or a few basic points that I need to know? Thanks! Matt

Gantt chart without specific calendar dates

Postby arhooley » Fri, 15 Apr 2005 04:06:36 GMT

I need to chart a process that our organization performs quarterly. It
starts on a Thursday and ends Wednesday two weeks later (covers 14
days). It's cyclical and completely independent of specific dates.

Can I create a Gantt chart that just lets me show weekdays and not
dates? I managed to hide the columns showing Start and Finish dates and
un-protect the calendar dates to show days of the week instead, but
what about that "April 2005" that's completely irrelevant? Or what
about avoiding these workarounds altogether?

Thanks if anyone knows.

How can I make Visio use "week 1" instead of dates in Gantt charts?

3.Changing Specific Dates to Generic Days in Visio Gantt Chart

I have created a gantt chart in visio 2003. The wizard asked me to specify
the date range of the project. Rather than display actual dates, I would
like each day of the project to be displayed as a generic day (i.e. Day 1,
Day 2, Day 3, etc.)

Can I do this? If so, how?

Thanks.

4.Timelines - not tied to specific calendar date?

Is it possible to create timelines in Visio 2000 that do
not have specific start and end dates, just periods of
time?

Example: Instead of starting on "Dec 15 2003" and
ending "Dec 15 2004", it would start on "Day 1" and end
on "Day 366". Milestones would be placed at "Day
25" "Day 56", etc.

Can Visio do this?

5.Use timeline without specific dates

I am trying to set up a timeline without specific dates. It seems to me that
there is no way just put a timeline in that has the number of days betwwen
one event and another. Is this true or is there a way to input just days---
not dates?
