If I copy/paste the shapes change back to the underlying Master

Postby YWth » Wed, 16 Nov 2005 15:56:02 GMT

Dear all,

I have a problem with my visio 2003.

I like to do several Org Charts in the same structural layout. Therefore, I
have computed a master design - including formating the shapes in its size,
color, font ... But when I now like to copy those personalized shapes they
change back to their original size (but keep the color). Also when I design
an own master from one of those given shapes it does the same, even though it
keeps all the changes I want in the "Edit Master"- Window but displays them
differently on the drawing.
I was talking to people using visio2002 and they do not face this problem.
Where can I change it, so that the shapes do not change back to their
underlying master anymore?? Or when I draw a new master how can I define that
it automatically arranges the positions??

Another issue is the Re-Layout function. I arranged 2 levels: one on the
top, another line of managers is situated at the bottom of the page. But when
I do "Re-Layout" they all appear again in one line on the top under the
Executive - and even go past the page size. :(

I wish somebody could help me who is more familiar with that programm.

Thanks a lot in advance.

1.I changed default connector shape and can't change it back

I was using the default connector with the arrow at the end of the line.
Suddenly, the arrow disappeared and I just had the line. I have followed the
directions in help for setting up a new default connector but that did not
work. Whenever I click on the connector icon in my toolbar, I just get the
line. I have a huge set of flowcharts to make and can't take the time to
manual reconfigure every connector.

2.Selection changes after copy and paste

I am selecting some shapes on a page in my diagram. I then take a copy
of the active window selection. The selection is then pasted onto a
different page in the same diagram. I need to do some processing on
both sets of shapes once the paste is complete.

However, it seems the order of shapes in the selection has changed
following the paste. So I am unable to iterate through both
selections. Also, I am using the UniqueID, but this is not carried
over to the pasted shapes.

Anyone have a good idea for matching up shapes in the 2 selections or
am I going to need to store some information of my own to match up
these shapes.

3.Copy and paste within a visio drawing not holding format changes

I am creating a drawing and re-sizing the visio shapes. When I select the
new shape and edit then paste, the pasted shape reverts back to the original
size. The shading holds, but the size doesn't. Please advise.

4.How can I stop the font changing when I copy and paste

When I copy and paste any stencil object with text, the copy font changes so
I constantly have to change it back to the font I'm using.

E.g. I'm using Arial but when I copy/paste the font changes to Wingdings!

Any suggestions appreciated as its driving me crazy. I've looked everywhere
but cannot work out what is the problem. Its never happened before.

5.Copy/Paste Connected Shapes to Destination Shape?

You could write a macro that analyzes the Connects collection for the
current shape and then adds all those items to the current selection.
