Whenever I'm in an Open File dialog in Visio and I click on "History" (in the Look In column), I get the following error: An unexpected error ocurred: Not enough memory available to complete this operation. Close other programs to make more memory available, and then try again." Of course, I exit out of all other apps and it's still stuck in the same error, can't dismiss the error dialog. Have to end task to get out of it. Fairly annoying. Windows XP and Visio 2002 Pro, oodles of memory (1 gig) and plenty of other resources. Any ideas? Thanks.
  • 2. KB822212 patch causes Visio 2002 Enterprise Arch to not start.
Having just installed Office 2003, I went to verify that my Visual Studio still ran. After a pause while it "it's directory cache" the UI disappears but remains a process in task manager. I uninstalled Visio and reinstalled and it worked fine. I then reinstalled the KB822212 patch from Office Updates and the problem returned. I uninstalled Visio and reinstalled it and it now works fine. It would not surprise me if there is VBA code in the EA version that checks if VS EA is installed, and that code is incompatible with KB822212.
  • 3. Anybody knows a good tool to create on-line documentation
I need a tool / program that can easily structure documentation (like an "Operations and Maintenance"-manual) for an industrial machine. The on-line manual shall replace paper-manuals and have - search facilities - a facility to handle different languages (several versions of the same text) - web-integration so that it can be on an intranet Basically I think it is a "framework" where we can fill in and structure the information we already have and know. Any suggestions?

Merging Visio Documents

Postby Debra Holloway » Sat, 06 Sep 2003 03:21:03 GMT

I have several visio documents that I would like to merge into a single
document. Is there a way to do this besides cut and paste?

There is no built-in functionality to merge several Visio documents into one
single doc.
Cut and Paste is one way.
Using XML might be another way.

2.Combining VISIO files with mail merged Word document

I am trying to create a composite document that has four pages. The first
page is a VISIO (2003 Professional) file that contains several pictures and a
converted AutoCAD (R14) drawing file. The following three pages are a Word
merged file created from an Access database.

I would like to be able to have a combined file for for hard copy
reproduction. This particular document has 220 reports that all have the
same basic format.

I have tried exporting various file types (tif, jpg, wmf, bmp, etc.) from
VISIO, then inserting into Word as picture or object and most are
unacceptable quality when printing also the file becomes very large in size.

I have also tried to paste the VISIO file into Publisher. The quality seems
alright, but just one VISIO file by itself was 36Mb.

I have done this before using Adobe and I loose a little quality in the
pictures and the drawing, but it does help keep the file size manageable.

I would deeply appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
