  • 1. Selecting Lines not Shapes ... how?
I'm new to Visio 2003, but have had long experience with Visio before a Microsoft product. I want to select all Lines but not the shapes (or visa versa). I can't find this level of control in Visio 2003. Is it available somewhere, or in controlled by a setting (or macro)? My hunch this not available. If this true, then then why was this ever removed? -- Hope this is useful to you. Let us know. rms
  • 2. Changing rows in spreadsheet
In Visio 2000, I have a spreadsheet on a page. Several rows at the bottom are blank. How do I remove them completely please? At present, they remain as empty, with faint outlines, so waste much-needed space. D-clicking the spreadsheet brings it up in a 'virtual' Excel window, but nothing I do seems to get rid of the blank lines. BTW, what is the 'correct' group for this sort of query please? I see both microsoft.public.visio and microsoft.public.visio.troubleshoot are used for 'problems'. Also, is it just my impression, or are many questions never answered? Is there a shortage of experts on Visio? -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  • 3. Question about "Save as HTML"
Hello everybody, does anyone know how to get some info on the "save as html" option? I am working on a VBA app that will process the exported files further but in order to do this I need to know where the user saves the pages. I can find out whether they have pushed the button to save as HTML via the event list in VBA but I don't get any further information, e.g. where they saved it and the filename used. Any advice / code example ?

  • 5. Does Anybody Have the Old Nudge.exe Utility for Visio 5.0?
I can't find it anywhere. Somebody has to have this laying around. This utility allows you to move shapes using the arrow keys, like Visio 2000-up does by default. If somebody would be so kind e-mail it to XXXX@XXXXX.COM or post a link to where i can download it. Thanks! -JZ

Hi Andy,

It is possible to open a stencil .VSS file over HTTP in Visio 2002 SR-1.
Check to make sure that you are attempting to open a valid stencil file, and
that you have correct permissions on the server where you are accessing the

2.opening a new document w/ a custom stencil open

I have created a custom stencil for users in my workgroup and saved the
file to a network directory. Currently, to use it we do
FILE>SHAPES>OPEN STENCIL and navigate to the file. I'd like to make
this more transparent.

What I'd like to do is have something where the user does FILE>NEW and
when I get the "Choose New Drawing Type" I'd like to insert my custom
'templates' (not sure if that's the right term in Visio) and when the
user selects one of those it opens the editing window w/ my custom
stencils already loaded. IOW, I want it to work just like one of the
existing drawing types: If I choose to a "Flowchart" drawing type I get
an editing window w/ Flowchart-related stencils already loaded in the
"Shapes" panel.

How can I customize that? TIA

4.How to open a Visio Stencil in Windows Form

I want to open a Visio Stencil file separately without using Visio ActiveX
control. My need is to place a Visio Stencil in a windows panel and the same
has to be docked in a windows form.

My Application is a MDI one. I am planning to place a stencil window in the
MDI Parent form, which will be used by all child forms which contains Visio
ActiveX control.

Please guide me in this regard.
