Visio 4, 5, 2000 and 2002 could automagically create great drawings (flow-charts) from text-files. Visio 2003 professional does not recognize the text-files my VC6 application creates :-( I there an available another not so hard technique my application can use to let Visio create my simple drawings? ; ex2_visio_import.csv Template, "Audit Diagram.vst" Shape,"1","Terminator","Start",,,,,,, Shape,"2","I/O","Some kind of input",,,,,,, Shape,"3","Decision","Test the input",,,,,,, Shape,"4","Display","Display true message",,,,,,, Shape,"5","Display","Display false message",,,,,,, Link,,"Next",,"1","2" Link,,"Next",,"2","3" Link,,"Result",,"3","4" Link,,"No result",,"3","5"
  • 2. Class Diagram ( What kind of Relation is this?)
Hi, I have two queries about relations between classes in a class diagram. They are as follows: 1. I have two classes class1 and class2. Class1 has a method foo() which takes in a parameter of type Class2. 2. I have two classes class1 and class2.Class1 has a method foo() which returns an object of type Class2. ......... Now I would like to know what kind of relation exists between Class1 and Class2 in oth the cases.Remember that Class2 does not exist as a member variable in Class1. Thanks, Nitin .

What can I use an upgrade for?

Postby SmVhbiBD » Mon, 02 Jun 2008 19:51:00 GMT

I have recently bought and installed Office Ultimate 2007 onto a new lap top.
I now want Microsoft Project 2007 and Visio 2007.
Do I need "upgrade" versions of these (I do not have earlier versions) or
full versions?

many thanks

Jean

You have to have previous versions of Project and Visio to get the upgrade
price. The Office suites do not supply an upgrade path to Visio or Project.
You'll have to bite the bullet and buy the full program.

2.DragDrop using using Visio ActiveX Control

I have an application that has a tree view control in it that i am using to
drag-drop text shapes onto the visio control.

It will work if I have 2 instances of the application and drag from one
application to the other.

It will not work if I try to drag from my treeview control to the Visio
Control all in the same application.

3.Using Organization Chart Wizard that uses Excel file

Hi all, I'm using the Organization Chart Wizard in Visio to read data from an Excel file and create an organizational chart. I'm actually using this feature to create a taxonomy of a particular programming/development topic.

1
My first question is - can anyone think of a better way of doing this

2
My second question is - I have multiple top entities (drawing the analogy of an organization - I have multiple Presidents who do not report to anyone) - Visio is able to handle this. However, I have entities/concepts in my taxonomy that fall under multiple entities (using the organization analogy - in some cases they fall under the two separate presidents)

To be even more clear I will demonstrate the organization analogy below
John Smith (President
                                |
                                | Todd Rufus (Vice President
                                | |
                                |
                                   Jackie Nobody (Vice President
                                                                              |
                                                                                 Santa Claus (Chairman

Joan Smith (President
                                 |_
                                     Santa Claus (Chairman

I don't want to create two separate entities for Santa Claus in my excel spreadsheet - I want the same entity to be able to fall under two different entities (who don't necessarily fall under the same organizational chart)

Can someone tell me how too achieve this

In summary, I want to know if using Visio in conjuncture with Excel is the best way to represent a taxonomy of programming/development topics. Also, I want to know how to allow a child entity to reference multiple parent entities

Thanks

4.Visio 2010 Crashes Using Everytime using "Organization Chart Wizar

To MSFT,

I'm trying to create an organization chart using the Visio 2010
"Organization Chart Wizard (US Units)", but at the last step, Visio crashes
EVERY time. The Excel File (Excel 2010 .xlsx format) that Visio is trying to
pull information from contains only 4 "people" in it, and is a test file so I
can provide it if needed.

This bug is 100% reproducible on my laptop. Visio crashes at the same point
"Finish" -- this has happened 6 times now.

I just tried to create a new file using just the organization chart template
(US units), and Visio crashed. But creating a new file based upon the "Audit
Diagram (US units)" worked.

My computer:
Lenovo ThinkPad T400s -- current on all Lenovo drivers / BIOS
Windows 7 64bit -- current on all MSFT patches
Office 2010 Professional Plus 32bit
Visio Version 14.0.4760.1000 (32-bit)

Please let me know if there is any diagnostics I can run to debug this
problem.
