  • 1. Generating PDF with layers
Hi everybody, I would like to create a PDF (or HTM) file starting from a Visio vsd file, taking into account the layers. When I use the PDF/XPS add-in, the layers are not handled. Do you know a workaround ? I Thanks
  • 2. Combining with MS Project 2003
We are using MS Project2003 and 2007. At this time, the majority of our work is in 2003. Management is wanting us to combine several Master.mpp files together to create a Visio (2003) chart that will display milestones, summary project timeline data, etc. They want to be able to dynamically link the Visio chart to the underlying MS Project files for auto update. What are some of your recommendations regarding Visio2003 and Visio2007 as related to P2003/P2007? They are going to make a push to use Visio2003 .... So, what am I in for here? How robust is the integration of P2003 and V2003?
  • 3. Using Bound function to restrict text control handle on a 1D shape
I have been attempting to restrict the movement of the text block on a 1D connector shape to stay only within the shapes geometry (specifically, only staying on the line) utilizing Bound formulas in the Controls section of the shapesheet...to no avail. The main problem I see with this appoach is that connectors can have many geometry points to consider when trying to constrain the text to only stay on the line. The goal is to create a formula(s) that can bind the text / Control to only the shapes 1D geometry wheather that line is straight or has numerous curves. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have an org that has dotted lines drawn around groups of boxes with arrows on each end and when I move or should I say copy to powerpoint one set of dotted lines become solid and I have no idea why? Can someone tell me.

how do you do that? And, please, specify the version of Visio.
The first that comes in mind - when doing that, not the connector is
selected but some other shape, group with different shapes, or smth like
that.

1.Why don't fonts show up in Visio?

I have a font I use all the time in Word and Excel. However, when I try to
change the font in Visio, the font I want to use does not appear in the list
of fonts available.

How can I get the font to appear in the Visio font pull down list?

2.Visio 2007 Connector Arrowheads

I have recently installed Visio 2007. When connecting shapes with a
connector I cannot get the arrowheads to automatically insert. I have gone
into FORMAT, LINE and selected an arrowhead at the end of the line, but then
when I create a connector a plain connector appears with no arrowhead on it.
This happens whether I create the connector by inserting it myself or whether
I use the Autoconnect feature. If after I create the connector I right click
on the connector, select format, line and select an arrowhead it appears, but
I would prefer to have the arrowhead appear when I create it. In 2007, how
do you make the arrowhead appear while creating them instead of after the
fact?

3.Connectors to center of shapes but arrowheads at shape perimeter

I'm trying to draw a state bubble diagram in visio where I want to connect circles or ovals with connectors. I want to make the connection to the center of these shapes, but have the arrowheads of the connectors show up on the perimeter of the shape. Also, if I move the location or size of the shape, the arrowheads will automatically move to stay on the perimeter of the shape. And to further complicate matters, the connectors can either be straight or curved. Is there a way to do this?

5.Why don't shapesheet changes update the shape?

I'm using the following code to change the foreground colour of a shape:

        myshape.CellsU("FillForegnd").FormulaForceU = "=RGB(0,255,0)"

I've tried combinations of Result, Formula, FormulaForce... everthing I can
think of. I can get the Shapesheet cell value to reflect "=RGB(0,255,0)" but
its still ****ing red!

Also, if I manually right-click->Fill I can see that Visio thinks the shape
is green, and clicking apply will turn it green, but it just won't work from
VBA. I've also tried using:
    myshape.CellsU("FillForegnd").trigger

... although I'm not entirely sure if that's supposed to have any effect.

I'm using Visio2002 (not my choice, but my client's).

Help!
