  • 1. Org chart properties across pages
I have created a large org chart, several thousand people, spanning several hundred pages. It works great but only one major irritation... When I am importing from a database it ramdomly assignes a subordinate layout, or so it seems. Looking at the properties it should be "&Child Layout Style = 4", however that property seems to change. I tried updating the master stensil, but no luck there either, still assignes a random value when I reimport, and I have to go into every page and change each managers subordinate to the proper setting. Anyway I can create either a VBA code to do this, or any other solutions. Just seems so stupid of a bug, there has to be an elegant solution to this. thanks in advance, jason
  • 2. Hyperlink
I have successfully hyperlinked from a cell in Excel to a Visio file. Does anyone know how to link to a specific shape within the Visio file?
  • 3. Preventing SaveAs
I need to be able to stop users doing SaveAs because our VB application manages the file's location.... I can trap the saveAs event, but only after the SaveAs dialog window has opened. I know I can use the application.AlertResponse to automatically 'press' cancel on the dialog but doing this across the entire visio application will reduce funtionality. I have tried using the BeforeModal event to see if I can 'see' the event queue and check for the onSave event, but I don't get very far with this approach. Does anyone hve any suggestions? My only remaining approach is to write code to have the windows API to sit there waiting for the dialog window to appear then blow it away before the user can do anything (messy). I have considered just taking the saveas menu option away but from what I can see there is nothing to stop the user circumventing this by creating a SaveAs button. Sorry for the cross posting. The MS Visio newsgroups seem as confused as the Visio object model ;) Thanks, Martin M.P.Evans@***nospam***goachiever.com
  • 4. What the heck is wrong with Visio Ent arch
I have Visual Studio enterprise architect addition and can't get Visio to work. 1st I installed it at work on a Win2000 pro computer. Visio opens and says it's checking some directories and blows up. So I brought it home and installed in on my Win2000 Server. On this pc you can create drawings but when you try to save it blows up. What the heck is up with this. I had to install 2002 pro version to get some work done. It seems to work fine. Ps I just installed it to a Win2003 server and it works there.

display of text and lines from CAD

Postby jay » Sat, 18 Oct 2008 21:54:56 GMT

In Visio 2007, I opened a .DWG,converted it, and saved is as Visio
(.VSD).
Some of the entities (both lines and text) don't display on the screen
in the formatted color.

The current theme is "none".
I tried two other themes, with no apparant difference.

Any idea why these would display (and print) as a different color than
they are formatted?

When I change the font size of the text, it does change size. When I
change color, it doesn't change.

help?

Jay

1.Line Pattern display, Line jumps and connectors

I am designing connectors for use in my companys diagrams and have found some
"funny" differences between Visios standard Line Patterns and my own custom
Line Patterns (tiledeformed and scaled - PatternFlag=&H41).
An explanation would be very much appreciated.

1:
Connectors using standard line patterns will add automatic line jumps when
crossing but connectors using custom line patterns will NOT add automatic
line jumps - otherwise no difference between the connectors

2:
Connectors/Lines using custom line patterns always has "something visible"
at corners and ends but connectors using standard line patterns sometimes has
"nothing" (a gap in the pattern) at corners/ends.

In a previous post I have been told that Visio uses the GDI+ engine to
control the display of the line patterns - hence the possibility of "nothing"
at corners/ends.
But why then are my custom line patterns treated differently.

My main problem of course is that I would like to have both automatic line
jumps and "something visible" at corners/ends but don't know how to get it.

2.saving inserted CAD & Visio callouts as WMF, CAD doesn't export

I am trying to save a Visio file with an imported CAD and Visio call out
shapes as a WMF, but the only part of the image that exports are the Visio
call outs; the CAD image disappears. I've tried grouping all the objects,
ungrouping & selecting all, and ungrouping & having no objects selected and
still only the Visio call outs export.

this? I tried to delete or UNselect the layers to make it work, I did NOT

This is the log file when I try to import. It then goes on and on and on
trying to convert.

4.Export to CAD text problem

When I try to convert Visio 2000 Technical drawing to

create a text block on Visio drawing. When converted to

Any help would be greatly appreciated....
