I'm trying to use Visio 2003 for UML Use-Case Diagramming. The only way that I can see actors being represented is by a stick figure picture. I prefer to show stereotyped actors as squares with <<actor>> and the name of the entity. I can figure out how to assign the stereotype in Visio, but I don't see any way to change from the stick figure to a box. I've tried Googling every possible variation on terms to find a solution, but have come up dry. Can anyone help me out? Is this possible? Tony

download home plan

I just purchased Visio Standard 2003 and I want to make a home plan. When I
go to the building template the only plan I get is for office. There is no
template for a home plan. How do I find it and download it or do I need the
professional visio 2003 to do that??

You need Visio Pro for that...but I'll let you in on a neat trick.

If it's just specific shapes you are looking for, just search for them in
the Shape Search. You'll find all the Visio Pro shapes there.

You can set different drawing scales in the Page Setup dialog (so you don't
need Pro for that).

Lori,
you say that I can get specific shapes like home furniture, appliances etc.
from the Shape Search. I am VERY NEW at this and want to know if there is a
button I press someplace on Visio to get SHAPE SEARCH?? Also the Page Setup
dialog---how do I do that ti get differant drawing scales. I saw previous
questions asked of you in the same topic but need a bit more detail to get me
started. I would appreciate anything you can tell me and if you can be
patient with me. thank you Gerry

When you open your drawing, the stencils will be on the left. The title will
be Shapes and under it a prompt "Search for Shapes:". If you entire a
keyword, Visio will search a special area of the Microsoft website for
shapes with that key word.

You can then drag the shapes to your drawing.

2.Best shapes to use for a site plan with a home outline

I am using Visio to create a site plan for a home site. I'm talking about a
single line to create the perimeter of the property and a single line to
create the outline of the home. The idea is to create what looks like a
building lot survey from a surveyor with a home outline placed on the lot.
That simple. I find that the "property line shape" works fine for the
property line. The only shape that I can find to easily draw a thin line
outline of a house is the "line with extensions" shape. It works OK, I just
don't understand why I can't find a "line without extensions" shape since I
only want to snap the end of one line to the end of another line to create a
very simple outline view of a house. The extensions seem to get in the way
and I always have to shorten them to be the same length as the snap point
part of the shape or else they are always extending past the corners. Is
there a better way to do this- drawing the outline of the home?

Thanks.
