Drawing Control Dragdrop positioning question

Postby kvr » Sat, 30 Apr 2005 00:01:05 GMT

Summary of problem

I have a Visual Basic 6 application which utilizes the Visio
DrawingControl. The screen contains the Drawing Control and a
Datagrid. I'm trying to dragdrop a part from the Datagrid onto the
drawing. I look up the shape for the selected part in a reference
table selected the appropriate stencil and drop the selected shape
onto the drawing. - Everything works fine except for the position
where I manually drop the shape into the drawing. The dragdrop event
passes x, y coordinates that are relative to the Drawing Control
itself and not the position on the drawing where I'd like the shape to
end up.

Question
How do I determine the document x, y position, from the Drawing
Control's dragdrop event.

Thanks

2.DragDrop using using Visio ActiveX Control

I have an application that has a tree view control in it that i am using to
drag-drop text shapes onto the visio control.

It will work if I have 2 instances of the application and drag from one
application to the other.

It will not work if I try to drag from my treeview control to the Visio
Control all in the same application.

3.Question about the drawing control

Let me ask. When i place a visio drawing control onto an access form, is
that called the application object, or, is the application object
something different? What is the difference between:

Dim vsoApp As Visio.Application
&
Dim vsoApp As DocumentControl0.Window.Application
&
Dim vsoApp As DocumentControl0.Document.Application
&
Why do the last two declaration require the middle window/document
parts for it to not report an error? What is the difference between all
three?

4.A few questions about Drawing Control and Delphi

I'm using the Drawing Control of Visio 2003 in combination with Delphi 7 and
I got some problems with my Delphi-application:

1. I can't drag and drop any master shapes from the stencil-window onto my
empty drawing. My document is NOT readonly. What can I do???
2. I opened a self-made drawing with a self-made stencil. The stencil has 5
Master Shapes on it. However, the Document.Masters.Count is zero so I can't
access any of the Masters.Items. What might be wrong???
3. My Mainmenu disappears an appears again when I alternating click a Button
and the Drawing Control-component. Whats wrong again???
4. How can I gain access to the userdefined Custom Properties of my Shapes?
5. How can I catch an event like Clicking or Doubleclicking a Shape?

Hope someone can help me :)

5.2 questions: ActiveX drawing control and disable "search shape" feature

Hi everybody

I'm pretty new to VBA coding but I'm very impressed with the
possiblities of the new visio 2003 drawing control - so please bear
with my silly sounding questions.

What I want to do:

Having Access 2002 database where I want to place the control in a
subform showing Visio drawings related to the different records (sync.
of Main- and subform no problem so far). Set my Visio template (vst)
as scr.

Problems:
1. The control doesn't keep the width and height values that I put in
the control's properties during designmode - always goes back to the
same size when in running mode. How can I change this? I tried to
integrate the control into a regular html-page and there it keeps the
size. Any advice how to achieve that in an Access form?

2. Everytime you open a template with stencil in Visio 2003 the
stencil has the "Shape search" window. Because it's taking a lot of
space, I want to disable it - how do I do that - the
"Windows(1).ItemFromID(Visio.visWinIDShapeSearch).Visible = False"
from the MSDN Visio 2003 page doens't work (I put it as it is in my
form_open procedure).

Who can help me please - kept on trying for hours now, but can't get
it to work.

Any help is highly appreciated!

Regards
Matt
