Version: Microsoft Visio Standard 2002 (10.0.525) Description: In the 'Basic Flowchart Shapes' pane, the tool-tip text for the image-object 'Data' says: "Can represents any type of data in a flowchart." This should have been: "Can represent any type of data in a flowchart." Just thought of reporting it as I came across this . :-) ~Pratheesh
  • 2. Aligning Shapes
I am having problems in aligning self created shapes. (Visio 2003 SP1). When I rotate a shape to align it with another sometimes if I rotate the shape one way (anti clockwise, I think) it will snap to the grid, and allow it to be aligned, but if I rotate it the other it does not. By that I mean when I rotate the shape the increments opf rotation are too coarse. Sometimes it dosen't seem to matter what I do the shape does not align. I have tried disabling (unchecking) snap to grid and 'glue' but without result. Some advice will be appreciated.

saving inserted CAD & Visio callouts as WMF, CAD doesn't export

Postby QW15IEUu » Sun, 28 Jan 2007 00:10:00 GMT

I am trying to save a Visio file with an imported CAD and Visio call out
shapes as a WMF, but the only part of the image that exports are the Visio
call outs; the CAD image disappears. I've tried grouping all the objects,
ungrouping & selecting all, and ungrouping & having no objects selected and
still only the Visio call outs export.

This is the log file when I try to import. It then goes on and on and on

2.Visio 2002 hangs inserting Cad

I have a CAD Floor plan. When I open it using Visio 2000 It opens fine I can make any modifications and save as vsd. When trying to open the same CAD file in 2002, visio hangs. If I wait long enough (1minute or so) it comes up with a file reference error pointing to some jpg file referenced in the CAD document. Each time you make any modification to the image you have to wait for this error to popup!!. Obviously Visio2002 is 'smarter' than it predecessor, and sees more of the CAD. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve

Thanks in advance

Iain

3.Help inserting CAD drawings into Visio!!

Help!! I posted a comment 2 mos. ago & no bites! I hope someone can help me
this time...

I'm writing a technical manual that requires me to insert a CAD drawing into
Visio and then place arrows on top of the CAD drawing object as callouts for
specific items on the drawing (i.e., insert a picture of a CPU and draw an
arrow to call out the CD drive). Then I save the file as a WMF so I can
import it into my word processing software.

However, when I CROP the CAD object, the object no longer exports to the WMF
file. Only the Visio object (the call outs) export. The CAD object is still
visible and editable in Visio. I can see it in other graphics formats (i.e.,
JPEG or GIF). But the resolution on JPEG & GIF isn't high enough, which is
why I save the files as WMFs. I don't have AutoCAD on my machine, so I can't
do the editing before bringing the CAD files into Visio. I tried converting
the CAD object into a Visio object, but that doesn't work. I tried saving it
as a 2002 or 2003 .vsd file and then converting to a WMF from there, but that
didn't work, either. I tried inserting the CAD object into one Visio workbook
and then copying & pasting it into a new Visio workbook, no dice. I even
tried editing & cropping the image in its own Visio file, saving that as a
WMF (and in that case, the object does export as a WMF), then inserting the
WMF into a new Visio file and adding the callouts... and even in that case,
the CAD object doesn't convert. I've tried grouping the objects, adding them
to all layers, saving with nothing in the file selected, saving with all
objects in the files selected, and nothing.

This is getting to the mission-critical point for me... please, somebody,
help me!!

4.CAD file not getting inserted in Visio 2007

When I try to insert AutoCAD 2007 dwg file in visio 2007, I am getting the
following error:
Cannot open file. The file may not be a DWG or DXF file, it may not be in a
supported version of the DXF file format, or it may be corrupted. Check the
file and try again.

Kindly advise on how to insert Autocad file and also convert it into visio
shapes.

Have your CAD user View Extents (or equivalanet) before saving the file.
