    Normally when I use the connector tool to connect shapes, I drag from one connection point to another and the connector endpoints turn red and the shapes stay connected. Suddenly today, I can no longer connect shapes this way. When I drag from one connection point to another, the endpoints stay green. How do I get them to turn red again so the shapes stay connected? I figured out I can highlight a shape, then click the connector tool, and drag a new shape onto my page and these will be connected, but I am unable to connect existing shapes! Thanks, Mark
  • 2. Solving logic blocks?
    I have just started using Visio, and I was wondering if it is possible to get it to solve logic blocks. I created a very basic diagram with two i/o inputs, with custom boolean properties set to "TRUE". I then put a "&" gate on, and connected the input, and added an output. I've gone through and set all the custom properties of the shapes and connectors to be boolean, and was trying to work-out if Visio could pass the values from one shape to the other, and essentially "solve" the logic block. Is this possible? Is it native to Visio, or does it require VBA Programming?

    I believe while I was creating a macro, I disabled the undo and redo function. How can I reenable them. I have checked the optins setting and that setting is correct.

Multiple Line Formats in ShapeSheet Object

Postby R1dG » Tue, 23 Feb 2010 07:53:01 GMT

I'm new to shape sheets. Trying to make an object that contains multiple
line formats. Seems like the line format section pertains to all the
geometry. How to I have different line formats in one object?

Thanks

One shape can only contain one line format, ditto for fill format etc. To create multiple
formats you will need to create separate shapes with their particular formats and then
group the shapes.

The Annotation shape is a good example, it consists of two shapes, one part, the handle,
having line pattern 3 (dotted line) and the main body part having line pattern 1 (solid
line).

4.Retrieve object values within shapesheet

I use Visio 2003 to create *.svgz files in which custom properties are used.
I'd like to write a function for a MS command button to retrieve the value of
a MS treeview control selected item/key. The retrieved value will then be
used in the command button's custom property.

I looked at the MS webiste and I don't see an answer for my shapesheet
question.  Thanks for your input.

5.Object references in Shapesheets

I'm trying to build some "smart" shapes that will scale properly when the
shape is stretched.

I've drawn one object (Shape.5), an outline of a square.
It has four connection points.
Each connection point is specified with a formula such as the following to
calculate the midpoint.
Connections.C.X=(Geometry1.X1+Geometry1.X2)/2
Connections.C.Y=(Geometry1.Y1+Geometry1.Y2)/2

Another object is some text that's supposed to be aligned with a connection
point.
Its cells look like:
Width=GUARD(TEXTWIDTH(TheText))
Height=GUARD(TEXTHEIGHT(TheText,Width))
PinX=Sheet.5!PinX-Sheet.5!LocPinX+Sheet.5!Connections.C.X
PinY=Sheet.5!PinY-Sheet.5!LocPinY+Sheet.5!Connections.C.Y
LocPinX=Width*0.5
LocPinY=Height*0

So far, this is dandy. These two objects are inside a Master Shape on a
stencil.
When I make an instance of the shape, I can scale as I'd like.
However, the pieces of the cell can be selected and modified.

If, inside the Master shape, I create a group with the square and the text,
as soon as I group the two objects, the text moves down close to the origin
of the page instead of staying linked to the connection point of the square
inside the group.

What's the correct formula for tying an object to a point on another object.

Thanks for your help
P.S.
I'm using Visio 2003 on Windows XP, SP3.
