  • 1. Visio 2003 will not save tool bar buttons
I have an unusual problem that surfaced after installing Adobe Acrobat (Full): custom menu buttons (such as adding Zoom In, Zoom Out, Close and so forth) added to the tool bar do not stay there afte opening, closing, opening and closing a document (two sets of opening and closing). Here are the steps for exactly duplicating the issue: Open Visio 2003 and, using Customize the Tool Bar, add a couple of menu buttons to the menu bars. Open a document. Close Visio (save or not, doesn't matter). Open a document (same or different, doesn't matter). Close Visio again. When you reopen Visio, the buttons put up on the menu bar are gone. Every time. Visio was installed first, Acrobat after. Both products are updated with their respective patches and service packs. Any ideas?
  • 2. Garbage in Method definitions (UML Operation Properties)
Hi all, I seem to have a major problem with method definitions in Visio. In UML Class Properties, one may click on Operations and then Methods... to view all methods defined. It is possible to change them there as well. For example to define method B, { blah++ } Clicking OK and then Methods... reveals it is stored properly. But, click on the B then Peroperties, Method and then change the method to { blah++; } After click OK, and then the Methods... button I get ??????? Paramet as the method body!! Huh? Method bodies defined in the UML Operation Properties dialog seems to be always corrupt. Has anyone seen this before? Any fix for this error?
  • 3. Does mac word 2004 support emf+?
Hi, I am trying to figure out why my visio diagrams look bad in mac word 2004. I am saving them as Enhanced Metafiles (.emf) from visio 2003 and importing them on Word in windows. Then, I open up the document in word for mac, and the graphics are all messed up looking? Is this related to the visio knowledgbase article KB893473? Any suggestions for how to work around this would be great. I cannot figure out any way to do this from visio short of exporting gigantic TIFFs or PNGs.

Convert Visio to web page will not create html links correctly

Postby Nicola Asher » Thu, 01 Jul 2004 00:23:30 GMT

I have a visio process flow diagram (Visio 2003) which is
linked to a sap itutor script as a relative path. The
itutor script will play from the visio diagram.

However, when the visio is saved as a web page, the
itutor script will not play from the web version of the
visio diagram.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to ensure the
relative path that is entered in the visio diagram will
work when the visio diagram is saved as a web page.

1.IE 7 and 8 do not correctly show tooltips for Visio html pages

My apologies if i submitted this bug in the wrong place or if it has been
submitted before.

When saving a Microsoft Visio drawing as a html page, upon hover with the
mouse, a tooltip appears showing the component name and underneath the words
'CTRL+Click' to view such as:

Button1
CTRL+Click to view

However in internet explorer 7 and 8. the tooltip will be expressed as

Button1
Undefined

2.Hyperlinks to docs/web pages in Visio web pages not working

I am creating process flows that I would like to link to external documents
and web pages. All of the links I create work fine in the Visio file, but I
have problems when I create a web page. All of my internal hyperlinks work
(to other pages within the document) in the web page. When I mouse-over the
shapes with the external links, the curser does not recognize that a link
exists.

I am using Visio 2003 and IE 6.0 in an enterprise environment.

I've tried to link to files on my local hard drive as well as across the
network. I've tried relative and absolute paths, although for my final
solution I will need to use absolute paths. I've tried Word docs, html, and
Excel docs.

Editing the html is not an option since there will ultimately be 100's of
links and the document will be regularly updated.

I cannot find anything anywhere that states that external links are not
supported when creating a web page. I've seen the problem raised in various
forms, but have not found a solution to my problem anywhere.

I'd appreciate any help!

3.Visio generated web page links open at top level and not in fr

Hi Steve

Sorry but I never really adequately resolved this issue. I use some script
to trap the event at the top level and display the information I want. It
refreshes the whole page which is not desirable as I have a jscript menu that
reverts to its collapsed state every time - plus of course time delays and
traffic etc but my solution is a proof of concept so thats not the end of the
world

Hope you have more luck than I did. If you get any more information on the
issue please post it here for the benefit of all - especially me :)

Thanks

4.Visio generated web page links open at top level and not in frame

I have an odd issue. I am using a visio generated web page in an inline frame
within the body of a standard three frame page (banner navigation and body.

My problem is that when the user clicks a link in the visio generated web
page the linked page opens at the top window level rather than just in the
inline frame.

If I link to a normal page (rather than the visio webfile) inside the iframe
- links from the page only update the iframe (hence it is not an issue with
iFrame) so my conclusion is that it is a problem with the way visio webfiles
are created.

Can anyone shed light on this

Thanks
