  • 2. Considering VxWorks
Hi, I'm currently considering VxWorks for a new project. Unfortunately, big cash to spend is not what this project has from the very beginning. So, from what I understand, a typical license for VxWorks Developers Toolkit is of a year-by-year rental base. What is your appreciation of this? How sure can one be that the prices for rental stays more or less the same for the years to come? Do you know if it is still possible to buy fixed licenses lasting "forever"? I've also looked at the "Industrial Automation"-platform, which is even more expensive. It seems what I need is something in between the two, as I do need the TCP/IP-stack for sure. Just interested in your general feelings and ideas, so that I get some more good (or bad) arguments to bring to my boss for the final decisions.. (I know, technical arguments are of course a key factor, but I have already covered them pretty well, it's more or less down to price now..) Thanks for you time! J.T. XXXX@XXXXX.COM

powerpc-wrs-vxworks cross compiler with altivec support (VxWorks 5.5)

Postby zoltan_csizmadia » Sun, 10 Aug 2003 12:27:35 GMT

Hi All,

I try to build a vxworks cross compiler for powerpc 750.
I could build binutils-2.14 with

./configure --target=powerpc-wrs-vxworks --prefix=/usr/local/vxworks
make
make install
PATH=${PATH}:/usr/local/vxworks/bin
It worked just fine.

Then I try to build gcc-3.3:
./configure --target=powerpc-wrs-vxworks --prefix=/usr/local/vxworks
--with-cpu=604 --enable-altivec
make all install

I have an erro in rs6000/vxCpu.h:
#error CPU is not defined

How can I solve this problem? Or which is latest gcc with altivec
support for powerpc-wrs-vxworks?

Regards,

Zoltan
