  • 2. No response from Microsoft on Sas.fxh
I've sent email to Microsoft 3 times now and there isn't even an automated response. Is this the correct address? XXXX@XXXXX.COM Any other suggestions on where to get Sas.fxh? If not I'll just have to implement my own standard.
  • 3. Simulated palette with 1d texture lookup is way too slow...
.. is there any way to improve it? I think there is none, but I thought it might be worth asking once. Just for the reference, my lookup code is something like this in HLSL: tex1D(Palette, tex2D(Texture, TexCoord).x - a_little_correction); Doing it four times and lerping the samples to get bilinear filtering only makes it even slower, of course. The HLSL code compiles to 10-20 assembly instructions for point sampling and 30-40 with bilinear.
  • 4. C# AccessViolationException on mesh.MeshData.Mesh.DrawSubset(iattr
Hi here ;) Firstly, I'm french so excuse me for my bad english (a) My question now: Since I've installed VS2005 beta2, I've got an AccessViolationException on mesh.MeshData.Mesh.DrawSubset(iattrib); on a DrawMeshContainer function in a sample program that just make Tiny walk (from chapter 13 of Tom Miller's book). I don't succeed in passing through this exception :'( Can someone help me to let Tiny walk please ? -- Pouet !
  • 5. two devices rendering the same scene
I want to render the same scene with the same objects, as seen from two perspectives. Since a device takes a window, it seems I mush have a device pr view (pr. window), but since vertexarrays are created relative to a devgice, does this mean that i must dumplicate my scene data? One copy for each device? How can i have scene data which is common to the two devices?

Compatibility issues between DX90b and VS2005

Postby Jacky » Tue, 13 Mar 2007 16:39:37 GMT

ello,
I received the following errors while running an application built with
DX90b and VS2005.
Does anyone know how to fix it? As you can see, the faulty statement happens
in winnt.h which is rather wield.
I turned on/off 64-bit compatibility checks, and did not help either.
Thanks

his is usually an ordering problem in your include paths. make sure the DX
SDK is first.

1.Compatibility Issues with Graphics?

Running Office v.x 10.1.5

Panther OSX latest version

powerbook g4 768mb ram

Hi, while opening a document created through office in windows, i
encountered several problems with viewing and printing the graphics in
the document.
The document was created primarily in windows, charts and graphics
were pasted in as pictures from powerpoint.

Problems:
1) Charts lose their fill colors.

2) additional lines appear over arrows or text boxes where they are
not suppposed to.

3) Some Pictures are completely replaced by a red [x] box

When i print this document from my mac, all these problems show up on
paper. However, i tried saving the document on mac, sending it to a PC
and then viewing it and printing again, all the problems with graphics
seem to not exist.

Is this some strange compatibility issue? I'm sure its not Ram memory
cause i pretty much have more than enough and no other applications
open.

Please help.

Thank you.

2.TJPEG compatibility and issues

Hi,

Some JPEG images cause problems in Delphi - some appears as interlaced
lines, other just cause GPFs and crashes the application. But the SAME
images are opened NORMALLY in other applications, as ACDSee, Windows Viewer,
Paint or Photoshop - so they are NOT corrupted. I can imagine that these
JPEG images use some non supported resources or specifications.

Are there compatibility restrictions or limitations in the native
Delphi JPEG support? Or is there some BUG that may prevent to open some
image causing the problems?
Did someone have troubles opening JPEGs using only TImage and JPEG
unit? And is there any fix for it?

BTW, is there any free TJPEG library that can replace TJPEG and that
may offer basic JPEG support but SAFELY, being sure that all images will
open with no crash?

       Thanks in advance,

           Marcelo Carvalho.

3.April SDK : still no shader debugging in VS2005

I'm working on a .NET 2.0 application with fairly complicated shaders.
.NET 2.0 means Visual Studio 2005. Fairly complicated shaders means I
would really, really like to be able to debug them in a better way than
taking screen shots and analyzing pixel values in Photoshop. Which is
only possible in VS2003.

I had hoped that this situation would be remedied with the April SDK,
but nope.

Guess I'll have to stick to my workaround:
Compile and run with VS2005, attach (with DirectX only!) with VS2003
in parallel. Good thing I've got /plenty/ of RAM in this box...

I have included Platform SDK, what other things do I need to do?

5.Graphics in VS2005

I've noticed that in adding a graphic to, say, a button the defaults
are now gif, jpg, jpeg, bmp, wmf and png. You can use icons if you
select 'All Files'.

Does that mean icons are on their way out? If so what's the 'best'
format to create new graphics for buttons etc.?

I like icons because icon editors make it easy to set transparent
backgrounds but I guess there are similar facilities in other editors.
