If I understand correctly he wants to assign the right to format disk drives without giving administrator rights. > Ich habe eine Frage zu Win2KSP4deu. Das we am besten... Wir verstehen nicht viel Deutsch hier, aber vielleicht Sie konnen Rechnungsprung (?) fur Administrator Rechtsverwendung versuchen. Try auditing for "rights usage" while performing the task as an Administrator. Also, consider making a Server Operator. I believe they can format disk drives. • 5. Trim Spaces from String
I'm using the following line of code to add a timestamp to a file. I think it's failing because of the spaces in the variables that make up the date and time. Can anyone advise on how to trim the spaces before trying to rename the file? for /f "tokens=1-5 delims=/:." %%a in ("%date%%time%") do ren D:\MyTestFile.txt D:\MyTestFile-%%a%%b%%c%%d%%e.dat The command window returns D:\>ren D:\MyTestFile.txt D:\MyTestFileSat 13092003 93014.dat The syntax of the command is incorrect

cmd line lpt port troubleshooting

Postby BKR » Sat, 24 Apr 2004 23:59:12 GMT

Does anyone know the best method to troubleshoot a lpt
port. I suspect a hardware problem, no errors in device
manager or event viewer. I thought there were some old
DOS commands to check serial/parallel port connections.
Thanks.

To test whether the ports on your computer are working, first
1. Type DEBUG (at a DOS prompt).
2. At the hyphen, type D40:00.

You can determine if the port is active by checking this print out. the port
address shows the port is active, 00 00 shows it is not recognised. The
example below this shows LPT1 (78 03) active.

        LPT1
      0040:0000 F8 03 F8 02 00 00 00 00- 78 03 00 00 00 00 1F 05
      0040:0010 61 C4 B0 7C 02 00 01 60- 00 00 2A 00 2A 00 34 05

Is there a GUI version of the "route" command? You know, "route

It would seem to be a much easier way to manage the routing table. I
