I am trying to delegate a subzone of my domain (Active Directory in native mode on Win2K) to a UNIX box. Can it be done? Do I have to go back to mixed-mode? If it can be done, would appreciate how-to. What I have tried so far does not seem to be correct.

Two NICS, Two IP Addresses - ONE SERVER NAME

Postby b2todW50aW4 » Wed, 01 Dec 2004 04:19:03 GMT

Setup - Internet monitoring system setup w/ two NICS each has a seperate IP
address (both in same subnet). Only one has default gateway setup - problem
is that it's automatically getting registered in DNS w/ two IP addresses for
same name which is causing sporradic problems. Any ideas on how to configure
this in DNS to eliminate the DNS confusion?

Thanks in advance!

Then Kevin replied below:

Two ways to resolve this.
Add this registry value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DNS\Parameters
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry
value:
Value name: PublishAddresses
Data type: REG_SZ
Value data: Specify the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the interface you
want the record for.
-or-
You can also use the listener IP address on the Interfaces tab, DNS will
only create the host for the IP address listed, but if you want DNS to
listen on all IP addresses and create only one record use the registry
entry.

This article explains the issues and how to disable autoregistration
globally or for a specific adapter:

Multiple NICs on the same subnet is not normally a useful configuration
in any version of Windows Server. But possibly with a diagnostic setup
you have some need for it?

1.two domains, two subnets, two sbs servers, one email address

can this be made to work:

two domains on seperate subnets, each running a SBS 2003 and exchange server
receiving email for the same external domain but for different users. For
example XXXX@XXXXX.COM is on one server and XXXX@XXXXX.COM
is on the other serve.

2.configure two NICs into one IP addresses

Hi there,

into one local connection on a win2k3 server?
thanks,

3.Two NICs / Two Networks / One Machine

Here's the situation: I have both DSL (pokey 800k) and Cable (2500k, usually) broadband modems in my SOHO. I'd like to have both of these hooked up, not to run in a "Dual WAN" mode, but in an "either/or" mode

Is this possible

4.two dsl connections, two routers, dual nics on linux box , want to run two websites

Hello,

I have two dsl connections, with one public ip on each. I have a linux
box with two nic cards.

xx.xx.xx.xx(WAN)---ROUTER(LAN23.123.45.110) ---- MYLINUX
(23.123.45.107) eth1
yy.yy.yy.yy(WAN)---ROUTER(LAN192.182.1.1) ---- MYLINUX
(192.168.1.100) eth0

I have apache listening on both interfaces.

Problem:

1. How do I make the packets route back to the gateway from which they
originate.

Currently the gateway marked as "default" is able to serve content
from the apache. The other one cannot.

I tried adding static routes, but that didn't work.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Jay
