  • 1. Slow Logons; Messages in Etheral
Hello, I have a small home win2k network with 2 DC's and a 3rd standalone server and 1 XP desktop on a single subnet. I am trying to run dcpromo on the 2nd DC to remove AD. I want to clean up/refresh AD/DNS due to some other issues. When I try to remove AD, it fails with the following message: The operation failed because: Managing the network session with server01.mydomain.com failed "Logon failure: The target account name is incorrect." Can anyone help me figure this out? TIA, Rich
  • 2. sorting in open/save dialogue
Somehow the defualt sort order for files in an open/save dialogue has changed to Modified Date. The view is List, so initially I see what appears to be a random sorting of files. Without columns showing it's not immediately clear that files are sorting by date. Just as annoying is if I right click in the window to sort by fileame, the sort order is reversed, as in Z-A not A-Z. There's no way to change this. So I have to first change the view to Details then click Name to get the proper sort order. How can I fix this? Also, is it possible to set the default view to Details tso that the sort column headers are visible by defualt?
  • 3. Server 2000 / 2003
Hi All, I am in possession of a hp server which has raid 5 capability. What i woul like to know is how to build this from scratch. Does either windows 2000 / 2003 recognise that there are 5 disks in the server and can you just boot with the cd in, or do you need to configure the raid 5 before installing the server application. Any kind of details would be very much appreciated. Kind Regards. -- Peter

No option to shut down or restart

Running Windows 2000 server SP4 with latest patches and SQL 2000. Suddenly,
the only option from START SHIT DOWNis Log off "username" There is no Restart
or ShutDown option. We saw this once before and when the server was
restarted by an administrator via Terminal Server, the system would not
reboot. The latest problem is on a new server at the same site. It has been
running since the end of September with no problem but after the most recent
threee service packs were installed, we found thie isue when we tried to do a
restart during some down time for the office.

Anyone seen this behavior? The client is not really wanting to reboot now
for fear the server is dead when it tries to restart

Try logging on as a different user with administrative privileges and try and
reboot or shut down. If your computer is not a domain controller and it's
authenticated onto the domain, try logging in locally and then see if you can
shut it down. Hope this helps.
