How do you map a netware printer to LPT1? Used to be able to do this with NT and 98.
  • 2. Font size is different from user to user
I have an in-house VB6 application that I built using Crystal Reports ActiveX control to print labels. The label report being printed is on a network share so that every user prints the same report. This also means that the font should not change. It is always "Times New Roman". However, I have two users who, when they print the labels from their machines, the font size is larger than expected and the text in the label is truncated. Others can print to the same printers with no problems. These two users are the only people who have graphic design-type applications installed, like Adobe PageMaker. Does anyone have any idea why the font size would be different? Is there anything I can check to find out why they are having this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I have never read of a limitations to connections to a shared resource and believe this to be caused from something else. Anybody have any ideas? TIA

I work as a I.S. Tech. We has Windows 2000 Server as our
OS for the PDC. I am wondering if there is a way to have
certain computers on property to automatically install
printers when someone new logs onto the computer. Of
course all computers here are in Active Directory.

jscript
.bat files
.cmd files
kixstart

do a search for map printer and logon script... a lot is out there.

Hello there, ... I tried to install a Printer at my
computer with the original Printer driver and received the
following message:

"The Microsoft digital signature affirms that software has
been tested with Windows and that the software has not
been altered since it was tested.
The software you are about to install does not contain a
Microsoft digital signature. Therefore, there is no
guarantee that this software work correctly with Windows.

If you want to search for Microsoft digitally signed
software, visit the Windows Update Web site at
http://www.**--****.com/ to see if one is
available."

"Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be
completed."

Can anybody help me to solve this Problem???

Thank you very much in advance and have an wonderful

Not all driver files have ben tested by Microsoft. You
may find that the driver you are attempting to install
works just fine. If you install it and it still does not
work properly, I would check the manufacturer's and/or
Microsoft's web site for more information about obtaining
the latest driver files for your printer.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your PC and look for an updated
driver.

Depends on the printer interface.

If it's USB you probably have to install the software BEFORE you connect
the printer.

So, what are you trying to install?

Hi,
I had HP photosmart installed on my XP Pro machine for a long time -

5.Can't Install Printer after installing Windows XP SP2

I need help from whoever can help. I have been to many different forums, on
all different companies to get help. So I am turning to you all in hopes you
have experiences this problem or know how to fix it.

First off I have Dell Dimension 8100. My hard drive crashed and I had to
replace the whole thing. I purchased a retail full version of Windows XP SP2
and installed it my new hard drive. Ever since then I can not install any
printer on the computer.

Details of what I did and my problem.
-Hard Drive crashed, purchased and installed a new one
-Installed a full version Windows XP SP2 (new purchase, since before I only
had an upgrade)
-Tried to install USB printer (tried multiple printers), when I plug in the
printer it recongnizes the type of printer, then it shows copying the files
to install the driver, then at the end it closes and says "there was a
problem installing your printer, it may not work properly"
-The printer does not show up in the control panel under printers
-Downloaded the latest drivers for both printers to ensure I had the latest
version.
-Still same problem
-Uprgaded BIOS Version to XP2, the latest version
-Still same problem
-Did an Upgrade (repair) of Windows XP SP2 hoping that would solve it.
-STILL SAME PROBLEM

So any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich
