  • 2. Spooler crash, event id 7031
I have a Win2K server running TS. It is a stand alone server. In the past week, the spooler service has crashed twice, resulting in all the printers disappearing and no one being able to print. On reboot, the printers return. I looked in the system event log and found 2 instances of Event ID 7031. The only changes have been updating from MDAC 2.6 to 2.8 and installing a newer version of a financial application. I found a Knowledge base article which seems to address this issue, 820550. What is the concensus if I apply the hotfix that MS is offering as a fix but the problem actually is something else? Will this hotfix result in system instability or cause other problems? MS sometimes says that the hotfix is only intended for the exact problem described and should be applied only if the symptoms are exactly as noted in the article and in this case, it does not.. Thx Roger
  • 3. Default Printer Permissions
Is it possible to change the default permissions granted to a printer when it is created? For example, is it possible to grant a specific global group the Manage Documents permission for every new print queue created? My target server platform is W2K Server in an AD domain.
  • 4. can't remove non-existent network printer
I can't remove a printer from my printers list. The network printer it refers to no longer exists, so when I try to delete it, it tells me that it can't connect, so it can't delete it. Help?
  • 5. Only administrators can print on shared printers in an AD
Hi, in our active directory (W2000) we have some printershares on every dc, but there is one printer you can only print with administration rights. The user can add the printer and send the printjob to the server, the server show a "document printed successful" entry in the eventlog and sends back "document printed successful" to the user. But the printer doesn't print it. Only when the user has administration rights in our domain, the printer prints the page. There are no eventlog entry which show errors. Whats wrong here ? Thanks, Stefan Mayr (ad newbie)
