Hi I am new to running 64 bit OS. From what I gather, it is possible to run 64-bit Win XP/Vista on certain types of CPUs which support EM64T instruction set. Is this right? Would there be any performance degradation in doing this? Thanks Raj

Anyone found Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse 64 bit drivers? I'm
surprised MS has not supported their own hardware for 64 bit yet.

They have been 'on the way' for 4 months now. Get Logitech if you want
64-bit support.

Some one tipped us about XMouse that is to be found on PAMD64. It is said to
do anything that i-mouse does. I only just installed it 5 minutes ago, it
configured alright as far as I can see, but I cannot vouch for it yet. I
have a Logitech MX 310 - that is Mouseware and will not be supported, it

The annoying thing is, they are in all likelyhood, working on the rubbish
in Intellimouse/Intellitype that nobody actually uses, just release the
driver, we don't 64bit RSI guides....

2.Windows Vista 64-bit Canon Pixma IP2600 fails to install correctly even with 64-bit driver

I have been trying, but failing, to install a Canon Pixma IP2600
printer under Windows Vista 64-bit, and using the downloaded 64-bit
driver from the Canon site. The install is slow but does complete. And
the message pops up "device successfully installed" in the system
But, when we go to the Printers window the device fails to appear. I
have an open call with Canon at the moment, but also wondering if I
can get any advice on this horrible problem here. The client is
understandably resisting buying a new USB printer just to get this
thing to work!
Note, I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, several
times: I.e., removing the Driver software from the Uninstall
Programmes section in Control Panel. Makes no difference!
Any advice on this much appreciated. Nb, to all intents and purposes
this is not a printer problem, as the printer worked fine under
Windows XP 32-bit.

4.Change in INF for having the capability of Installing 64 bit driver and 32 bit driver

Hi All,
I have to port a 32 bit printer driver co-installer to
64bit(AMD64). I have ported it but I need to hook with driver INF file.
Is it possible to have a single INF?

In my view yes. Now the question is, how OS will know which vesion of
Co-installer dll need to be picked up. SO in that case I need to write
like this(Not sure)
   take 64 bit version
   take 64 bit version

Am I write?
Please suggest some solution.

Thanks & Regards

5.converting 32-bit driver to 64-bit driver

the manufacturer of my multi-function printer (Canon MF5650) refused to leave
me the schedule for a release of the 64-bit driver of the printer. I would
like to know whether I could convert the 32-bit driver into its 64-bit
counterpart on my own.

I always encounter "Cannot install this hardware" with the "New Hardware
Found Wizard"...
