  • 1. How to check installed OS is 32bit or 64bit
Hi All, How to determine the installed Operating System is Windows XP 32 Bit or Windows XP 64 Bit.
  • 2. XP64 to Mac OS 9.2
Can anyone suggest how I can connect an XP 64 computer to speak to a Mac running OS 9.2 please? I've tried my Maclan 2000 version which works well with XP 32 but though it loads fine in XP64 and everything seems to be set correctly, it does not see the Mac. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -- Richard
  • 3. ntoskrnl issues:)
Hey fellas. This is my first post to the newsgroups. So please go easy on a lad... I just installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit and so far have had minor issues -surprisingly most coming from IE. But that's another story... My main Vista issues is the boot screen stating that the ntoskrnl is either corrupt or missing. I've read the MS bulletin on how to solve this. But Vista doesn't appear to provide that avenue for me. When I do boot of the disc, I go into the startup repair section. It tells me that there are no problems with the boot process. Unfortunately, I've forgotten all of my dos commands. So if the solution is to be found there, a little hand-holding would be appreciated. Lastly, one peculiarity is that w/ no disc or any disc other than Vista in the drive, the issue occurs. With Vista simply in the drive, the OS boots up w/o any issues at all. Any thoughts? Please advise... Cheers, -Mike
  • 4. ITunes & X64
I have a small issue. I cannot get itunes to recognise my DVD\CD Burner. Is it because I am running XPx64 or should I be looking elsewhere. Googling brought me nothing. Itunes just says No Burner installed.
  • 5. Windows Explorer crashes
I have had this problem ever since I got this laptop. Everytime I try to open certain folders with Windows Explorer, it crashes. I can open these same files with my desktop with no problem. The error message says "windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvenience". The error signature is "AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: ntdll.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0003215b". I am not sure why this happens, but it is really annoying. I have heard the best solution is to reinstall Windows XP, but this is my last resort. I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp.050622-1524:Service Pack 2). Any suggestions on how to repair tis problem?

Does a table exist of rev numbers for DLLs?

Postby miso » Sun, 22 Apr 2007 15:48:03 GMT

his weird problem I have with photoshop has returned. I'd like to
verify I have the latest revs of DLLs installed. This list comes from listdlls program.

I did a "restore" install of X64, then installed the service pack and
the latest drivers. I'm contemplating doing a complete reinstall since
I have the use data on a different partition from the OS. Still, I'd
hate to reinstall every program. BTW, I tried the eval versions of the
latest Photoshop (CS3), and it hangs up too, so I don't see a simple
solution here.

1.Copy dll's Exports table to another dll Options

Is there a way to copy a dll's exports table to another dll?

This is what i'm trying to achive:

I have a group of DLLs:

and so on?

Each DLL in this group ALWAYS exports func1, func2, func3.
Sometimes, I can find a DLL that belongs to this group that besides
these 3 functions also exports several other functions, for example:
d.dll exports func1, func2, func3  AND  GetStatus() and

I have a proxy.dll that can be a proxy to all the above group of
In my proxy, I use LoadLibrary() on a.dll for example (in runtime, I
have a way to
know which DLL to load), and then GetProceAddress() on func1-3.
In my proxy.dll I have prototypes for these functions and in these
prototypes I just call the original function with the pointer I got
using GetProceAddress().
Until here, everything is pretty simple and goes ok.

What I need, is a way from my already defined proxy.dll to be a proxy
to DLLs like d.dll, which exports
some other unknown functions, and this has to be in runtime (I don't
want to manually add the unknown exports to my proxy and compile it)
I need to be a proxy in the simplest way there is: just call the
original functions from my DLLs, I don't need to do some operations
before I do it.

Any help?
Is this can be deone by copying a dll exports table to another dll ?

2.regsvr32 regwizc.dll and regsvr32 licdll.dll isn't doing it

I've tried regsvr32 regwizc.dll and regsvr32 licdll.dll to get the activation
to go away but it just wont even though windows acknowledges that they were
successful when I run them. What do I do now? I have one day left before I
have to re-install yet again

3.Embedding a dialog from dll in main program's splitter View and doing data exchange in dll

Am sorry if the subject looks too long. :-)

Here is my problem. I divide my SDI into 2 columns using dynamic
splitter. I associate the left column with some view. Now i want the
right column's view to show a dialog resource from one .dll. I could
get the dialog resource from the .dll and display it in the right view
by getting the resource ID from the dll ( after loading it ofcourse )
and then using the FindResource() and LoadResource(). But the problem
is that if i enter something in the dialog resource and then click
"Ok", then i expect my handler in the .dll to be called and then
retrieve all the configuration parameters that user enters in the
dialog resource.

But my handler is not getting called, and obviously because of that,
the dll cannot get the parameters entered into the dialog resource.

Is there any way to do this? So that the .dll can contain the dialog
resource, and i can embed it in my main exe after loading that dll.
And then once user clicks ok on the dialog, the appropriate handlers
and data exchange happens inside the .dll, and my main application
neednot care about the configuration parameters that the .dll wants...
