Hi, I am developing a device support USB host (suupport HID and Mass Storage) by using Intel PXA27x. I successfully to use USB mouse in my device. However, the mass storage doesn't work. I have added "USB Storage Class Driver", "PXA27x USB Host(OHCI)" which shipped with platform builder, "RAM and ROM File System" and all items under "Storage Manager". What else do I miss? Or any one can list out all of the component needed for Mass Storage device! Thanks a lot!
  • 4. Some questions about touch screen driver development? Please h
Hi, Steve, Thanks alot. In fact I encountered problems when I changed touch screen driver name to a customized dll, e.g. mytouch.dll. Meantime, I defined DriverName as mytouch.dll for touch screen in platform.reg. My Registry Settings: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel] InputConfig"=dword:2 ; 2 => touch screen only [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH] "DriverName"="touch.dll" "MaxCalError"=dword:10 But, mytouch.dll can not be found loaded in kernel debugger. At the otherhand, I read SMDK2410 tchpdd.cpp and Xscale tchpdd.cpp. They both call VirtualAlloc/Copy/Free to setup the relevant registers for touch screen controller. Why do they setup registers with this method? May I access the registers by their non-cachable address. But I refered to SMDK2410 method to setup the registers virtual copy for my touch screen controller. The starting address to be allocated is 0x0. But I can not virtual allocate space for the registers. Would you like to give me some clues? "Steve Maillet (eMVP)" wrote: > >1. USB port hangs

Postby aplamon » Fri, 01 Dec 2006 10:57:50 GMT

I am using an x86 ICOP board and WinCE5.0. I have the USB Mass Storage
Class installed and it is working almost all the time. I have noticed
when connecting some USB Floppy devices (mainly YE-Data brand) on a
long (15') USB extension cable they seem to stall. The USB port appears
to have hung completely (it won't recognize any devices at all after
that and the USB sniffer sees no traffic whatsoever) and there is only
two ways to get it to recognize USB devices again, either reboot the
ICOP board or connect a USB device on the other USB port. That seems to
get something going in the USB host because now the device loads
properly. I have not had any issues with any USB flash keys yet.
I tried to do some debugging on this but so far I haven't gotten much
in result. Have someone experienced this issue and may know what the
problem is?

Thank you,

I found that the flag HCD_SUSPEND_RESUME in the flag HcdCapability
seemed to be causing my problem. after changing HcdCapability from 5 to
a 4 the USB host does not have any problems with any floppies. Does
anyone have an insight to excactly what that flag means? It seems that
when some floppy devices are connected via a long cable they get
suspended but somehow the host has problem when trying to resume and
hangs? What is strange is that even disconnecting the device that
caused the suspend does not cause the host to unload the driver and
carry on..

I, too, have been running in circles. I'm trying to install a JumpDrive and
after hours in conference with service techs, I was told that I need to
Upgrade USB 1.1 port to USB 2.0 port and I need to upgrade my drivers by
downloading Service Pack 1.

Further research at this website turned up this: "FIX: A USB device
appears with yellow exclamation mark (Code 31) in Windows Device Manager" And
it says to contact Microsoft Product Support Service for that FIX. At that
page, I was sent in more circles and at this point, I'm lost.

The Lexar people said I don't have to Upgrade my USB port -- rather it will
just run more slowly. At this point, all I'm trying to find out is where I
can download the HOTFIX to solve the yellow exclamation point as quoted above.

Can anyone assist me? one USB port not equal to other USB port

I have been having trouble with one of my USB hard disks.
It worked for some time, but not reliably.
In practice it randomly dismounted while copying files (and also when not

mount again.

Yesterday this happened again, I got annoyed and, since the drive is still
under a few monthes warranty, I decided to call Medion support.
This guy advised to try it on another USB port.
Initially I was sceptical but nevertheles I gave it a try. Guess what? The
troublesome drive now seems to work like a charm! Problem solved.

But... how is this??? USB ports aren't equal? I changed over cables with the
other USB drive, which still seems to work fine on the former "errorous"

4.USB Port with USB Modem - error can't open Port when querying mod

'Windows XP Profession, sp2 sees the modem. Modem is US Robotics Model 5633.
It shows up in the Device Manager but when I query it under the diagnostics
I get the error "Cannot open Port".

Port does not show as in use.

Same port sees a usb hard drive and reads it fine.

Same modem installs and works fine at another computer.

Any suggestions? Thanks

5.some USB ports no longer work, + unclean shutdown, +h/w wizard hangs

I am having several problems with my PC which all seem to
have occurred simultaneously. My PC run W2K pro + SP3. It
is a P4, 1.8G, 256M, 40G. It has run faultlessly for the
last two years.

+ The PC has 4 USB ports. One is connected to my DSL modem
via an Ethernet adapter which provides internet access.
This works OK. I have tried connecting a digital camera or
a USB key drive to any of the other ports and get no
response. These devices/ports have worked previously.

+ The PC no longer shuts down cleanly. On shutdown it
prompts me saying it cannot close an application
called "CSC Notifications window". I close it manually and
the shutdown continues. It reaches a stage where I am left
with a blue screen and the mouse pointer but the shutdown
will not proceed any further. I then have to resort to the
manual reset button.

+ From the system properties dialog, hardware tab, if I
click the device manager button the device manager never

+ From the add/remove hardware wizard if I select trouble
shoot the wizard will hang and never continue.

Thanks in advance for your help with any of these issues.
