  • 1. How to get the input device to only capture the microphone
    Howdy all - I'm trying to create an application that will take the content from the microphone input and push it to a publishing point on a windows media server. Using "DEVICE://Default_Audio_Device" as the input source for the audio I am able to get everything to work correctly w/ the exception that all content from the local audio board (i.e. not just the mic but the wave out as well) gets pushed to the server. When I use the standalone windows media encoder application I see that there is a way to configure the input device to just use the microphone (under session properties, audio properties changing the pin line to "microphone"). What I can't find is how I can change this setting programmatically. I've looked through the SDK and I can't find a setting that will limit the default audio device to just the microphone input. Does anyone know how to programmatically configure the encoder to only push the microphone input? I already have access to the relevant IWMEncSource/IWMEncoder/etc. interfaces. Also just to be clear for my application I can't just disable the wave input as I still need to allow the local machine to play other audio - I just want to only push the microphone content to the server. thanks, Loren
  • 2. ASF file with a custom stream
    This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Hi, I try to use ASF Writer filter to write ASF file with my custom stream, but I can't setup the proper profile. The profile is accepted but no corresponding pins are created. What can be the problem? • 3. using IWMStreamPrioritization from C# or WM Encoder SDK?
    Is there some way to access/utilize IWMStreamPrioritization objects (as defined in the WM Format SDK) from C# or the WM Encoder SDK? For example, if I've got some C# code with a reference to a WMEncProfile object, can I somehow convert that reference via interop marshaling to a COM reference that some C++ code can then use with the IWMProfile3::SetStreamPrioritization() method to alter the profile that the C# code is referencing? If so, could you show me a code fragement? I've done some interop marshaling but NOT of COM objects. Thanks in advance, Dan S.

1.Getting multicast IP address via SDK

I've been writing a small app for WMS9 that goes through my publishing points
gathering information. One of the critical pieces of info I want to get is the
multicast IP address and port that's configured in the multicast streaming
plugin under Properties for the publishing point. So far I haven't found a way
to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction? Here's a sample of my
code (VB.Net):

Dim Server As WMSServer

Dim PubPoints As IWMSPublishingPoints

Dim PubPoint As IWMSPublishingPoint

Dim BCPubPoint As IWMSBroadcastPublishingPoint

Dim Properties As IWMSNamedValues

Dim Plugins As IWMSPlugins

Dim Plugin As IWMSPlugin

Server = New WMSServer

' Retrieve the IWMSPublishingPoints object.

PubPoints = Server.PublishingPoints

' Retrieve information about each publishing point.

For i As Integer = 0 To PubPoints.Count - 1

PubPoint = PubPoints.Item(i)

If PubPoint.Type = WMS_PUBLISHING_POINT_TYPE.WMS_PUBLISHING_POINT_TYPE_BROADCAST
Then

BCPubPoint = PubPoint

'>>> WOULD LIKE TO GET MULTICAST IP/PORT INFO FOR BCPubPoint HERE <<<

If BCPubPoint.BroadcastStatus =
WMS_BROADCAST_PUBLISHING_POINT_STATUS.WMS_BROADCAST_PUBLISHING_POINT_STARTED
Then

If BCPubPoint.Name = "mcast" Then

BCPubPoint.Stop()

BCPubPoint.Start()

End If

End If

End If

2.Memory leak since we use Format SDK 9.5 instead of Format SDK

Hi Becky,

The KB:896096 hotfix didn't change anything, it must be normal since we
doesn't use DirectX
Here is our mail for further information on this issue.

Thanks, regard.

3.Memory leak since we use Format SDK 9.5 instead of Format SDK 9

Hello,

We have an important memory leak problem since we use Format SDK 9.5
instead of Format SDK 9.
Our application runs 24 hours a day on our clients machines, and creates
thousands of files per day, so far, without any problem with Format SDK 9.
We simply installed the 9.5 sdk version and recompiled.
In three days, and after having created about 15,000 files, our program
memory usage went up from 130 MB to 1,5 GB!
That's a loss of about 90kB per file.
We suppose that the following sequence
m_pIWriter->EndWriting():
m_pIWriterAdvanced->Release();
m_pIWriter->Release();
no longer frees the memory.

On a client machine, with our application, we installed Windows Media player
9, there wasn't any problem.
Next we installed the version 10 and the problem appeared immediately.

Is this problem known? Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Patrice
