  • 2. Cannot add the newly introduced Win2K3 node to the upgraded cluster
Did a rollover upgrade on Windows Server 2003 Advanced Server Cluster to Win2K3. (Forgot to apply SP1 to be honest)......introduced the newly built/new hardware with Win2K3 SP1 by evicting one of the node and adding this new hardware. Tried adding this node to the existing cluster, run the process, enter the cluster service account and password and then when it proceeds, it tried to start the cluster service on the new node that was introduced and it fails. I know you would required the errors that I get, infact one of the error that we checked had some hot fix from Microsoft. Since, now I am home after a 24 hour sprint on this, I do not have the error, and I am unable to re-run the process to tell you exactly the messages as i don't have the cluster password with me now to do it. But, any insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys! thanks Russ if you are reading this.
  • 3. Creation of multiple cluster resources via batch file
I wanted to get some direction regarding how to create multiple cluster resources via a batch or command file. We are getting ready to do a batch of archive directories for our user population. Probably about 800+ shares will be created and placed on our cluster configuration. What is the best way to create the cluster resource for each of those shares? They will be all placed in one folder called "archive". We are running a Windows 2003 R2 SP1 two node cluster with all data on fiber attached san.
  • 4. Moving Domain Membership
Hi, I have an active/Passive file/print cluster which are 2003 server, They are part of an NT4.0 domain. We have migrated the NT4.0 domain to 2003 active directory. I now need to migrate these cluster servers to this new 2003 active directory. Is there any technet articles / resources in doing this?

Russ is correct for Windows 2000.

In 2003 all you do is run the clustering wizard and create a new cluster or
add a node to an existing cluster to get the service.

Rod

2.2003 Ent Ed - Cluster Services - Dynamic Disks

I am in the process of migrating from a single server
Win2K server which is connected by fibre to a remote
storage system to 2 WK3 servers configured in clustered
mode. The disks that are configured on the existing Win2K
server are Dynamic disks and from what I understand
Dynamic disks will not work in W2K3 - is there anything I
can do to work around this or to revert these disks to
basic disks before migration or will they work in W2K3
cluster services ?

Thx in advance
Brendan

3.Windows 2000 Adv to Windows 2003 Ent print Cluster Migration

I am currently migrating our Windows 2000 Advanced print clusters to
Windows 2003 Enterprise and want to automate the printer migrations. I
have tried printmig and it restores the printer drivers but not the
shares and I have tried printbrm but it throws up a lot of error
messages. I have seen several posts regarding this issue but no
definitive solution, can anyone please suggest things to try so I dont
have to manually restore over 100 printers.

Thanks

Chris

4.Error 800706BA with Clustering Service on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition

I try to set up Cluster Service on Windows 2000 Server Enterprise Edition. However, after I set up the first node, when I want to add second node, the problem exist, it show "800706BA AC_ERROR_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE" "Could not connect to the server. Verify that the server exists, that it is part of an Application Center cluster, that it has correct network and DNS settings, and that the credentials supplied have administrative privileges on the server."

But I can not find any infomation on KB about how to solve that? Why that happen? How can I made it work?

5.Upgrading from Exchange 2K Ent edition to Exchange 2K3 Ent edition

Currently I have Exchange 2KEnt and Veritas BU Exec running on the same
overutilized/under spec'd box. I am in the process of buying a new server
and will be installing 2003 server Ent. edition and will be purchasing
Exhange 2003 Ent edition to install. I will need to migrate the Exchange 2K
data over to the 2K3 box. The existing box is also a DHCP Server, DC,
alternate DNS and a GC.

What is the best migration path to take?

There are three other 2K DCs on the domain as well. The plan is to upgrade
those to 2K3 standard.

Your help is greatly appriciated.
