  • 1. Security settings changed when using File Server Migration Wizard
Hi, I am in the middle of migrating the files on a Win 2000 server to 2003 and I have come accross a problem when using the File Server Migration Wizard. All the files get copied accross and most of the security settings on the share are ok. But, I have some folders that as well as having group access have individual people set up for access too, these individuals don't get copied accross even though the groups do. The log file for the wizard says that it has "cleaned up the security" and says that "DACL ACE" have been removed and "Owner replaced by Built in Administrator". What does this mean, is this what's causing the users to disappear? Any help would be much appreciated!
  • 2. novell and nt 4 environment migrating to Windows 2003 AD
We have a dual environment where we are running NDS for NT; I wish to know which migration strategy should be used. MSDSS to sync between the NDS tree and the new AD or use the Active Directory Migration Tool to sync beteen the NT 4 domain and the new AD?
  • 3. MSDSS incorrectly transfers attributes
I have the following problem: I want to establish a one way synchronization (AD 2003 --> NDS 6.0) of our user accounts. But MSDSS (version 5.03) transfers the AD attribute CN (Full Name) to the NDS attribute CN (Login Name) and that is wrong. I have studied MSDSS documentation and I have found a registry parameter (SamRename). After its change the behavior has also changed - the AD attribute SAMAccountName (Login Name) is correctly transferred to the NDS attribute CN (Login Name) but also AD attribute CN (Full Name) is replaced by AD attribute SAMAccountName (Login Name) and that is unusable for usIs there any way to avoid replacing the AD attribute CN by AD attribute SAMAccountName A would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks a lot. -- IT Manager, Kiekert-CS

Dear All,

I am in the middle of an office migration and I have hit a brick wall and I
really need all your help...

Source domain NT4
Target domain w2k3r2
The source account is in the target domains Built in Administrators group so
should have total rights over the target domain.

When running the ADMT wizard it completes but doesn't create the computer
object. As the account is in the Administrators group I haven't needed to
delegrate the permissions to the OU.

Hello Andrew,

Make sure that the user account you logged on to run ADMT is added into following

3.ADMT v3 error message ERR3:7330 during profile migration

I am migrating from an NT4 domain to a Windows 2003 domain using ADMT v3.
During the local user profile migration I am getting the message:

ERR3:7330 Failed to open registry key \Software\Classes, rc=87 The
parameter is incorrect.

I do not get ERR3:7331 as someone else has reported and the profile is okay
when the user logs in. The complete log is posted below.

We are hoping to go into production with this migration in the next couple
of days and I would like to know how I can correct this error.

Thanks
